Adam wanted me to tell you that recently he has noticed that anytime he has any food or beverage with dextros that 2 hours later he gets hit.  Have any of you noticed this?

If I knew what it was and what foods it's in, I'd be able to tell you.

What is it, and what foods is it in? If you say "it's in all alcoholic products" then yes, it will trigger an attack for me.

Do you mean dextrose, the right-handed isomer of the simple sugar, glucose?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glucose

It's hard for me to see how it might have any effect, since it's present naturally in the body.  If dextrose is not what you're referring to, my apologies.

Best wishes,

Tell Adam to stay away from Dextrose !! If it's CH that he has, the 'headaches' will continue anyways.

Dextros is in "starchy" foods isn't it? (I forget which tros is in what -used to know, but am OLD ya know). He needs to read labels and stay away from it. We all have things we can't tolerate. [

Red wine is a trigger for a lot of people where white wine isn't.  Huh  Lot of it doesn't make sense, but it just is. MSG will trigger one and another can eat his weight in it and never feel a tringe.

Beer used to be an "instant" trigger for me. I went 12 years without a beer and then drank 2 one night and "nothing". I'm still careful, but have not had a twinge in several years from it. Go figure that one. Triggers change?

this disease is NUTZ - makes no sense and can't be explained. At least that's my theory -- no wonder we confuse doctors.

DAYUM!!!  If that was a trigger for me, ya might as well shoot me now!!!  It is bad enough having an orgasm as a trigger, but "Drakes cakes with the cream filling and devils food cake coated in darker chocolate" ... ... ... ...

Just shoot me ....

Dextrose is sugar - just one of the forms of it.  When someone is on IV fluids with sugar in them, it's usually Dextrose 10% or something along those lines.  It's pretty basic and is in - well, I'd venture to say nearly everything!  Don't know if it could be the trigger or if maybe something else is that's common in the foods?  I can't imagine Dextrose being a trigger with it being something natural in the body and one of the natural sugars, but I could be totally wrong...

Interesting thought, though!  I think it's always important to try to identify any triggers. Smiley

Take care,

Have you checked for diabetes?  Diabetes does not cause CH, but I know that when my numbers are high my hits get harder.  If diabetes is involved that might be an indicator for him.  More likely though, there is another trigger in the food that is not noticed as dextrose is in almost all foods, particularly all packaged foods.
