Notes from the move

As you can see, we're already online! Sure, the kitchen, living room and the bed room are full of boxes waiting to be emptied, but I can write emails and check what's going on in here! And yes, the bed is yet to be transfered here, so we're sleeping on the floor... All my stuff is nicely unpacked and placed to cabinets and cupboards. All Timo's kitchen ware is also on their place. My books are nicely at the shelf and our huge TV is set (too bad this house does not have cable so we can see just 4 channels, oh well...) But the house is lovely QUIET! It's heaven! The hallway has this echo thing going on, so when you close the door normally, the neighbours think you slammed it... otherwise I can't even tell that we have neighbours! The view from our living room and kitchen windows are just amazing! We can see beautiful trees and the lake... And because we're living in the city centre, one huge road is nearby, but instead of noise hazard we get to see beautiful lights when it gets dark. And yes... I FINALLY live in a place with a tub! I've always wanted to have one and now I do! I'm soooo happy... So far, so good. We haven't had any fights about what goes where nor who does that. Perhaps we get to argue about something when we're going shopping (we need curtains, shower curtain and tiny night stands). And the guinea pigs... they are nicely settled to the bed room for now. They were little wondering at first, but now they are fine with their new home. I promise to post some pics of the moving process so you can see what this flat looked with the boxes, then with smaller amount of boxes and the without the boxes. But I have to locate my digital camera's wire first... PF wishes to all, Sanna

| The last picture (without boxes) will be due to the fact that you found closet space (or under the bed) to hide the unpacked boxes!!! LOL I am glad it is all going well! Good luck!! Chuck

No, Bill. I agree with Chuck. Some of those boxes, both his and hers, will remain boxes! I've been married going on 38 years, our last move was in 1984, when we came south to stay. When the movers arrived to load up our boxes, there were 15 boxes in our garage, every one of them labeled "Tarey's papers". Thirteen of those boxes are sitting in our garage today - unopened! My husband is a pack rat, and hasn't so much as glanced at those boxes since 1984, yet, I am not allowed to throw them out. Also have boxes in the attic with old trophies, both kids and husband (I threw mine out before the move - not that I had many, mind you), grandma's mismatched dishes, pictures, pot and pan lids (no pots or pans, just lids). We are assuming the pots and pans are in another box somewhere, so we are keeping them! Oh, yes, Sanna. You will have unopened boxes stored in the closet, basement, attic, garage, everywhere. Trust me on this one. Happy life in your new home. Post pics! Sandy

| Posting from last October. Sanna Glad you're getting settled for the future. Good luck with job offers and give the cagey ones a "hi" from me. Pictures of the view and area would be great.

We do have a storage (where some of his old jackets, 2 out of the 3 toasters and extra vacuum cleaner will go) and space in the attic (where the we're planning to take the two tables we do not have space for). But call me too optimistic, but we're actually planning to open ALL those boxes! I've already emptied all 27 of mine and he has emptied most of his. Currently his two (!) computers, radio, lots of CDs and DVDs and lots of books remain the the boxes. But knowing him... those things find their way out of the boxes by next week, because he needs his music and movies! on Mar 20th, 2007, 1:06pm, Rosybabe wrote: BTW..have you baptized each room already??? |
| Nope; we've actually been too tired - and not to mention - out of space! for that. We laughed that with this move going we don't need to join a gym! Luckily it's soon over. I promise to post pictures from the area and the house. Our view at night time is absolutely amazing for a city home. I actually tried to capture it on our first night here, but the pics weren't that great. And Kevin, I promise to tell your greetings to the little ones! Sanna
