Bought a fishing LIcense Lately????

Was talking to a friend of mine the other day and we haven't been fishing since we were kids so one thing led to another and we decided it would be fun for her to come up to the country and us to go fishing. Then she mentioned that we probably needed a fishing license.

Wellll, I can't remember when the last time I bought a fishing license -- I think they were $5 (that should give you a clue). I lived on the lake and fished off the pier - why buy a license? Never seemed to be a big deal. But today, I was in Wallyworld and decided to purchase a fishing license -- $28!!!!! I asked the nice man if it came with the Fish COOKED!!! Inflation is one thing -- this is ridiculous! And it's only good till August!

Looks like Caleb and Granny are going to be doing a LOT of fishing to get Granny's $28 worth of good out of these license! Anyone come visit me - BRING your fishing gear -- we're going to the river......

$37.30 here in Californey.  But fishin ain't about the fish.  It's about solitude, ceegars, friendship and scenery.

Worth every cent of the price!

It's only good til August??  WTH??  That is a rip off, glad I can use mine all year here too.

$31 for a Husband & Wife resident license here, then additional $10 trout and $15 for a 2 day Great Lakes stamp.

Guess we're pretty lucky so far up here!

Ours is $25.75 for a year.  I guess it's gone up fifteen or so bucks in the last thirty years, but I don't mind paying for it.  It's a bargain.

Plus I use the $#@% out of it.   Grin

Ya know .. I got everything on the porch ready to go to the river (even my country-granny-fishing hat -- guaranteed to attract fish) and just remembered I forgot ONE minor thing -- I don't have anything to put the damn fish in. Gotta go back to town and get a chest (a big one) for the fish. Can't see tying 'em to the truck bumper to bring them home.

Ok, got baggies full of ice (been emptying the ice maker into baggies all week), beer is cold (soft drinks for Caleb - he can sip outta Granny's beer when nobody's looking),  lures, hooks, polls, pliers, gloves, weights. hammer (to knock out the "big" ones). I'll pick up the crickets on the way. Anything I'm missing?

My hubby is an avid fisherman.  IL license is only $13.00, but, he also gets an annual license in Arkansas $40.00, and Missouri $35.00, and Kentucky $35.00.
Then add in the fish finder he got last weekend at Bass Pro $200.00, and the river pole and reel from the weekend before that $100.00.  Now add the cost of his many fishing trips with gas...............aww crap I'm not even going to keep track anymore  Shocked.

Beth

Edited to add: Did I mention he has his very own lake in our front yard that is full of bass, bluegill, and catfish that he can fish for free year round?
