what would you give? this may get interesting...

i was thinking about it last night and realized i would give almost anything to have a normal life again. what would you give to be rid of the pain? arm? leg? kidney? just funny to think about and look at the difference between what you would give in pain vs what you would give while painfree. I would give my index fingers at this point, or have my wages attached by 50 percent for life. In pain, I think i would give all of my appendages and the ability to swallow.

Swallow??? I would not give up a thing, I wish I never had them but I do. When I'm not in cycle I think I enjoy everything much more than the average person. Just to add. I'd hate the fact that I would never be able to meet a lot of the people here if I didn't have these fuggin things. It's all those without ch that's losing out imho.

Actually much as it really PAINS me I have to agree with Jeff - CH for me has been a mixed blessing. I've met some of the most important and wonderful people I'll ever have in my life through having them and even if I COULD do something to stop them forever I have a little person in my life who I'd want pain free more than I ever could be. Although on the other hand - I'd give any of Jeff's internal organs

Sorry, I'd take the pain before I gave up anything that wasn't mine to give. This is the hand life has dealt me. My kidney, my index fingers, my ability to pee - it's all been given to me, so I couldn't give any of it up for a selfish reason (taking away the pain). Believe it or not, part of pain's purpose is to let us know we are alive. When there's no pain, to what do we compare pleasure? Since we all experience more pain than most, I imagine our pleasure meters tip into the overload zone more often than most. Sorry, there's the philosophy major in me coming out again.

Not giving up a thing. CH does not control me like it used to. I have it, I deal with it. I do not like it but my choices are: have ch control my life or ream the beast in the a$$ and enjoy life. -P.

I have to agree ... Even though I am chronic, and don't have a cycle's end to look forward to, I am keeping all my appendages (especially THAT one) ... A sufferer just needs to change their attitude, if they are ready to do that: Don't dwell on the hits .. Dwell on, and THOROUGHLY enjoy the PF time between hits. Chuck

Helen is truly evil......I like evil I was lucky and I could always count on the pain going away for most of the year. I never counted on it going away for the last 16 but I'm not complaining.... The thing is that it might go away. I've thought about it before concerning epilepsy too. The latter is not so simple for me though. Hang on to your appendages...... Charlie

Nada. I gave up a lot of precious pain free time, either dwelling on the last hit or worrying about the next one, learning how to cope with this crap. I won't voluntarily give up anything else to the beast.

I have a normal life. I have a great job, great wife and a fantastic little baby. Life is good. The daily pain sucks but it could be worse. It is pain but it goes away.......even if they do always come back it is still temporary. Gotta agree with the rest of the freaks. I guess I gave up on being episodic a couple of yrs ago. Cheers to my 3rd anniversary.

Prior to finding a preventative that works... If I had nuts I would give both away to get rid of the pain. However, I am a woman and that isn't possible. I did however have a complete hysterectomy to rule out the role hormones may or may not be playing in ch and migraines. Being chronic and getting hit 8x a day in pain 16 hours a day with only a handful of 15-30 min breaks is no way to have any quality of life except for when I would sleep and not get hit. I found very little to live for or to enjoy while awake. It consumed me for years. I praise God everyday that I now have a preventative that works and has given me my life back outside of occassional migraines. All I can say is hang on and keep searching for an answer in finding something that works for you. You will find something. It is just a matter of time.

That's one good question... As boring as it may sound but I cannot figure out what I could give up. Probably the only thing I could give up would be something like eating pizza. Be careful with what you promise, though. I've heard examples how people promised to God that they'd give some of their body parts if their pain/their closeones pain would go away and that actually took place! PF days, Sanna

Nothing is ever so bad that it can't be worse. I have had these damn things all my life, so I believe it or not, this IS normal for me. I give up enough of my life for them now. I will not give up more. As so many of my friends have noted, without CH and THIS place, I would not have met them or had such an impact on my life. Dragn
