| I dont know if it was G_d, but I do think that these words most likely did it - preserve the Jewish race, in English: 4 ¶ Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: 5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. 6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: 7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. 8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. 9 And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates. or in Spanish: 4 ¶ Oye, Israel: Jehová nuestro Dios, Jehová uno es: 5 Y Amarás á Jehová tu Dios de todo tu corazón, y de toda tu alma, y con todo tu poder. Michael

Michael - At the risk of sounding impolite (which I really don't intend), the title of the thread is "A philosophical Question....." I didn't see a question.

I too don't want to seem impolite (as it is not my intention either). Might you also be confusing the terms Philosophical and Theologial? Might be a language barrier thing.

I saw an act of faith today. A man was on his knees, not in a pew in a Church, but in a garden planting seeds. ~~Unknown

Michael, God has always protected his chosen race, even though they suffered from the curse they put on themselves, they were brought back togeather as a country as it was foretold. I am not sure what the question is but could you give the translation modern English instead of old English. If it is from the Torah then can you give the Christian Bible verses. Paul

Paul, that would be Deuteronomy 6 verses 4-9. It is called the Shema, or the Great commandment. It is the underlying foundation for Judaism. All of the rest of Jewish law rests on this, as does Christian teaching which follows after. When one will "Love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, with all thy soul, and with all thy might" everything else will fall into place. Jesus took it to the next logical step when questioned about this commandment, and said that the second is like unto it, that you should love your neighbor as yourself. (My paraphrase) Michael, I appreciate your beliefs, and appreciate your sharing them here. Peace to you and yours, Jerry
