Getting ready to move...

... with my best supporter! A while a go me & my best supporter decided to look for a place together. Little did we know that we'd fell in like with the first one we saw - and that the landlord liked our offer so much that the realtor called me the next day and told us that we got it. So now we both have given the notice to our current landlords and we both have begun to pack. My current room will be mine until the end of this month, so I don't need to hurry. We'll get the keys to our new place 12th, so we can slowly begun to take small things (such as clothes and books) there. Officially we're living there from the 19th. I don't know yet when is our "moving day" (when all the huge things like the bed, coutch, tables...are taken there), but it's around 24th I think. This is exciting! Although my best supporter jokes that when I get to be with the guinea pigs all day, all I'll be doing is to stare at them... I just read from one of our daily papers that the first month living together is the hardest. Any advices/experices you'd like to share? Great weekend to everyone. May it be a PF one!!! Hugs, Sanna

I do, I do I do..... Set realistic ground rules as to who is in charge of what chores, who pays for what, in relationship to each income. It's not a fair trade...so to speak, that if one person is making 2 or 3 times more than the other person does that bills are split an even 50/50. That leaves one person broke all the time and the other sitting financially pretty and sets up for a power struggle. Set agreements as to who is able to come over to visit, what time, and when is alone times. That way you respect each others boundries specially when you want/need to study, or what-not. I have to get to the office but if I think of more I'll let ya know.

What a big step, Sanna. Congrats! Just remember now that you will be living together, it's o.k. to fart in front of him. Get past that and it's smooth sailing!

Sanna, Is your supporter also a lover? It's hard to tell from your posts, and we don't even have a name! I'm only asking because living with a boyfriend/girlfriend is a lot different than living with a friend, and the advice would be extremely different. In any case, it sounds like an exciting time for you, and I wish you the best. Living with anybody can be hard, but it also can be the best thing that ever happened. It can be both, too. -Shawn

| I will. I bet you are going to have a blast with it! If my street have been hard to pronounce before, this one is even harder - even FINNS have difficulties! I do hope that we'll get our names to the mailbox soon... but I think it's going to take a while. If we're lucky, our names will be on that door sometime in April.

| actually that may help with the transition Seriously, The first 6 months can be the roughest. Once you can get through those days then things are cake! The main things to take into consideration is the fact that you will both have little quirks that will annoy each of you immensely. THIS IS FACT! It is ok! Just communicate well. Eric and there is no such thing as a "no no spot" it is all fair game in love and war

Eric, I'm not sure about that. I finally found the right woman for me, and now that we have been married a year, I still haven't found anything I would call 'irritating' about her. Every other woman I have lived with, yes, I've had to cope with things I really didn't enjoy, but I thought that was part of the deal, compromising for the sake of happiness. Now I know that was wrong. You really can be happy with the right woman. I'm betting Sanna is the right woman for Timo. -Shawn

I showed this thread to Timo. We both have seen how couples at our close circle handle living together. Some fight about every little detail, some hardly ever. What comes to us, naturally time will tell if we'll drive each other up the wall... but somehow I don't think so. Our thinking is so alike in many important ways, which is, without a doubt, helping us out. We have already noticed that we do lots of things differently and we've learned a lot of new things from each other. Now to Jimmer's list... 1. we both will cook! 2. Timo knows how to clean an appartment! So we'll both do that. 3. he knows how to find beer himself... 4. we both pay our share of the bills 5. we do not have a car! 6. we both will do ironing and washing 7. we have already decided that we'll both will buy groceries, although I enjoy grocery stores a lot more 8. actually Timo has been cleaning our guinea pigs' gage more often than I have, because they have been staying at his place and when I'm visiting on that night, we clean it together. 9. I'm short, he's tall, so windows are his area... Sanna

Congrats Sanna. Sharing duties is a must, at least for Angie and myself. Just a tidbit that works very well for us is that we have this rule. "If and when we have a argument we resolve it before going to work or to sleep, never leave each other with bad vibes and feelings." It has worked for us and we have been married 24 years and are still together and stronger than ever. Enjoy your life together. Barry

Thank you, Barry! My parents were married for 27 years (until the day dad passed away). They had a rule similar to yours: they never went to sleep angry; they solved each and every argument and disagreement before that. I like that a lot. Sanna
