One of the key measures of the success of Mardi Gras is the amount of garbage that is collected after the event.

I hope they include the Governor, the Mayor, the District Attorney, the Police Chief, the City Council and the entire Great Society subculture of government dependent, nonproductive, uneducated, drug dealing crack head thugs who are killing this once unique and beautiful City.

I must now prepare to fast for Lent. I think I shall give up being bitter.

Forty days...but that's it!

My lovely wife says we are giving up restaurant dining for lent.  She says we'll save tons of money and maybe lose some weight.  For the first time, I'm contemplating leaving her.   Tongue  I'm not even Catholic!  Oh well... she's always right.

Amen to that Steve G.  Although I kinda think that big wave Katrina washed out a Lot of the dregs to Baton Rouge.  Our traffic problems and crime  have soared.  Although I wonder how anyone will be able to afford the homeowners insurance in New Orleans.  I hear it's between $6000 and $10000 a year.

Happy Mardi Gras to you too...... Roll Eyes

Buffalo had a Mardi Gras parade again this year with 40 floats in the snow. Tough bunch up there.

Jay Leno had it right. That woman in Florida without electricity for 15 years.....Fema reps would have a toast and congratuate each other.

Ah, but they didn't have our dear lady gubner heading the rebuilding did they?  I am NOT going to blame the federal government for the lack of *anything* in New Orleans.  All you have to do is look at the rebuilding on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi or the rebuilding going on in the western part of the state (LA).

When you put the good old boys in charge of anything, sh!t like the *not* rebuilding happens.  I suppose the Federal government is responsible for the murder rate in New Orleans too?

About Lent...One year I gave up you guys... that was hard... One year I gave up the news. that was hard.  I have given up wearing jewlery, that wasnt much of a sacrifice. I'm not sure, but I think instead of giving up I'm going to do something.
1) I'm going to stop worrying
2) I'm going to be even friendlier and let everyone go when I see their car at an intersection.  (I was almost killed by a driver on Christmas Eve one year because I did this)
3) I'm going to think positively and smile at the world...more than usual... I already smile alot (really actually laughing at people)
4) I'm going to stop laughing at people... thats really not nice to goof on people that way... because I'm not perfect.
5) See how its hard for me to think positively... I am perfect! Just changing my way of thinking will be a sacrifice.

Life is good... be well and Godly for the next 40 days and ya don't have to be Catholic or Christian to be nice in this pre Spring/Easter season.  Jesus was a cool guy no matter who you are. I'm gonna be more like him... wear sandals and grow a beard.

Well, I'm giving up my usual -- Sex and alcohol

Opps -- before you tell me - I know it MUST be something I'll miss -- Ok, I'll throw in the sweets AGAIN! Once again, I don't get to eat any of my birthday cake... Oh well -- it's only 40 days (and nights - don't forget those long damn nights when I'll be craving chocolate!)
