So...what are your plans for tonight?

Right after work, Meg-Pie and I are headed to the local armory for Battle of the Bands to benefit the Boy's and Girls Clubs of Portage County. We both are Volunteering in our own ways. Meg is taking pictures for Our Voice, while I will sit on the panel of Judges. Dyl, meanwhile, will be at an all night Trivia contest at his High School, so I don't plan to see him until about 8 AM tomorrow morning. Ahhh the fun things we get to do when our children get older.

Dropped El off at a local resort hotel, where her friend Sasha is having an overnighter birthday party, including swimming and so forth. Sasha's parents staying in one room of course, and g*d knows how many teenage girls staying in another. We know Sasha's parents well--but I had no idea that they were so courageous. Better them than me. They're all good kids (far better than I was--but don't tell) so I don't expect any problems. EJ and I are going to see "Letters from Iwo Jima" tonight (we saw "Flags of Our Fathers", and they're meant to be seen in tandem). Probably a late dinner at our favorite chinese restaurant. Tomorrow, I'll fetch a doubtless bedraggled kid around eleven AM. Best, George

Initially Katie was supposed to have 9 friends sleep over after midnight-bowling... which kinda surprised Dawn & I, as we told her she could have 3. Turns out that she is staying at some other girls house for an ice skating party, so we are free. Heading to a local dive bar around 10-ish to see our friends play some music. We will prolly close the place.

lmao Charlie. But wait..... Briteny Spears just checked herself into rehab. In the Bahamas of course. The saga and the endless possibilities of revenue never ends does it? I'm personally sickened by all of this. There is Gage. A little boy who never asked to be born but fights like crazy for the right to live. and then there is Hilton, Spears, Richey, and Anna Nicole Smilth. I will be going to my favorite place to pray. A open space of trees and flowers and plants around the neighborhood where I live. To pray for Gage and others like him.

Can't top Linda. Hubby worked an 18 hour day so he is whupped and not able to do anything. Son is playing his guitar in a concert tonight-but he couldn't tell me the name of the place . Daughter (WHO IS PMS'ING, I MIGHT ADD) is now home and making life oh-so-enjoyable, the spare son went to a friend's, so its just me, Ernie and Jules.......................again.

Picked up my amp at our guitarist's house so my son could use it for pep band. Dropped him off, and my bride and I went out for a fish fry. Picked up 3 movies - Grosse Pointe Blank, Escanaba in da Moonlight, and The Libertine. Probably watch one or two of those. Tomorrow I'm helping our drummer move, Sunday I'm trying out a new bass amp (Ampeg SVT-3 Pro) and possibly purchasing same, Monday is work, then rehearsal. I might even try breathing somewhere in there.

My daughter has graduated to a full fleged Groupie!!! A teen band from the neighboring town, Autumn's Fate. Actually she's just the groupie for the lead singer Jake. I have to admit, the kid is a cutie, with the sweetest darn smile, and in full "Rock Star" fashion...morbidly skinny. I didn't know they made jeans that small with that long of a leg. His thighs couldn't have been any bigger around than my arm. Short shrimp too...but seriously was a cutie, and when he wasn't screaming at the top of his lungs he actualy could carry a pretty good tune. His girlfriend was pretty cool about all the crushing going on over him. That band came in 3rd of the 6 that qualified. It was kinda fun to be sitting and watching what teens actually do at these fuctions. It was also kinda cool to be there, watching Meg and her friends from my seat at the Judges table. Watching her crush on that cutie was almost like an out of body experience watching my self and my first really hard crush. What a night...I still hear the screaming in my ears.

| Some of us "rock stars" don't have that problem. Sounds like a great time, Pegg. Last year my son did the same type of thing, and his band won. The grand prize was a half-hour set at our local festival, complete with pro sound system support. Unfortunately, in young teen rock star fashion, that band broke up before they got the chance to show off for the whole community.

I WAS supposed to go to the Good Bye Party for my boss Tami tonight. Maureen from HR is leaving now too, so is Steve from Circulation. So the party got expanded to include everyone who is leaving. However, I've developed body aches and an all over feeling of hurt and tired and just plain Uuugghh. Not sure what or why...probably just stress. So needless to say I'm not going to make it to the party, and honestly I wouldn't make for very good company feeling this way.
