I quit smoking today. I'm available for a mutual support thing.... Kathy? Luinda? Anybody? nani, who started taking Chantix 2 weeks ago, and is only mildly uncomfortable today.

| OMG I am going to ask my doctor to perscribe that. Is it really making smoking aversive? That is whjat it is supposed to do. Now add in a behavioral program and you are set! I'm right behind ya. good luck my dear!!!

The Chantix doesn't make it aversive, but it keeps the cigarette from doing anything. It does what the nicotene does to your brain, so the absence of nicotene isn't noticed. Like methadone for cigarettes. You're supposed to take it for a week before quitting...being the major wuss I am, I took it for 2 first. While I was on it and still smoking, the cigarettes didn't really "do" anything for me. It appears it may be the "magic pill" I've been waiting for.

I'll be your bud, Nani - I started quitting on Monday this week. Here's my stats so far... I have been quit for 2 Days, 16 hours and 31 minutes (2 days). I have saved $23.65 by not smoking 53 cigarettes. I have saved 4 hours and 25 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 2/11/2007 9:00 PM I'm on the patch. Day 1 wasn't too bad. Day 2 was SO hard. Today, only when I think about it. See, I made this promise to Our Dad that when Savannah came through this surgery ok, I would start my final quit (my last quit was a practice quit shhh, Scott, you be quiet!). So, since He held up His end of the promise.... I'm already feeling better, Nani and you will too! You just drop me an email when the walls start closing in on you and I'll either send you a hug or kick your butt, whichever you need. Sound good? You guys get that commercial in the states about that stewardess who is quitting with the patch? It's hilarious. I love that girl "The seat belt sign is ON! Gawd!" I always tell her 'you GO, girl' Nani, check out this website www.quitsmokingonline.com. It's great to change your way of thinking. A crave only ever lasts 4 minutes. Knowing that really helps. PS, I've heard really good things about that Chantix. We also have a similar thing here called Resolve...I'm considering switching to those from the patch. I am still getting the "nicodemon" as long as I wear the patch.

here's another good site too, Nani http://www.quitnet.com/ It's got a message board there as well and you can hang with other quitters, not only internationally but locally. Kinda cool. Be forwarned though, things can get a lil hot over there - they're all in withdrawal. It's a good site though and you can build a library for yourself of good posts and "quiticisms".

Nice going Nani. It gets easier every day after awhile. It's worth it in every way. I don't have to stand outside in a blizzard now. I had a break. My dentist told me I stunk. He was right. Keep us posted. It will help. Charlie

Quit for 2 years on Feb. 28 (after 33 years). Ain't easy, won't lie, but best thing I've ever done in my life. Just remember, there will still be days that *lighting up* will seem like the most important thing you can do at that moment, BUT, it will pass. Zyban/Wellbutrin was my bestest friend for a little over 5 months. Also, remember, after 72 hours, the physical cravings are gone and then you have to convince your brain that it's a *mental* thing. oh shit! I'll quit if Jean quits! Just kidding You guys --- I'm scared to quit! I know this totally sounds like excuses.. but I'm scared to gain weight. The last time I quit -(years ago) - I blew up like a puffer fish... and if I do that NOW - i wont be able to move. Every pound I gain HURTS me.. I feel it..(i have rheumatoid arthritis that hasn't been under control in years...and the heavier I get the worse it is on my joints..daily activities are already hard for me. ) i'm already in pain every single fukkin day of my life, and if I gain more weight, it's gonna get worse. I'm terrified. I dont want to smoke - but I dont want more pain than I'm already in either. Smoking is my only vice, and when i'm in a lot of pain- I smoke. I dont want to start on the road to pain pills... UGH I will ask my Doctor about this Chantix. He understands my reservations about quitting - but he also wants me to quit. I hear about it every damned month ...... plus - dont know if i've ever mentioned this...... I have NO willpower! (if I did -i'd be thin and I wouldn't smoke!) LOL Ramon wont quit - he's already told me...... so it will just be ME........ while he's still smoking. I dont know - i'm setting myself up for failure already - eh? shit i'm going to bed! love you guys! woobs
