I know what I'm up against

Yesterday's Helsingin Sanomat newspaper announced that 1425 people applied to the very same journalism training program than I did.
I knew that many people would, but 1425!  And still 21 will be picked. 1404 will be dissapointed in March when the lucky ones are announced.
I'm keeping my thumbs up that I will be one of those lucky ones. At least this time even mum is cheering for me! When I applied to study in London, she was sure that I did not stand a chance. I got a place from the university I wanted the most and I'm using the same optimism now with this one! 
After all, 1424 others applied, but only of them is Sandie... 
Still, I would have lived happily without the exact amount of my competition...
