I don't know much 'bout diamonds but...

Sam and I just dropped of my engagement and wedding rings to get them re-sized and buffed (woohoo I lost so much weight that my rings need to be 2 sizes smaller) and we were talking about how Sam and I have never had a "real" wedding and how he is gonna get me a bigger diamond when he reproposes blah blah lol can't go into detail cause I'm too excited!!!! well me (down to earth is more me... tags and prices not important, cheap deals and coupons, etc are more my thing)
Aww but this diamond the jewelershowed me........ the ring that I have had for 10 yrs is beautiful ... the setting gorgeous .. the stone, microscopic. I didn't care, BUT this new diamond is OMG awsome rainbows bouncing off it. It's not me to like this diamond oh but obviously I am so excited to be getting it!
Ok I just HAD to share my big news........... TaraAnn is gonna have a ROCK !!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah I'm so well conservative so spending this is not my thing... but I am sooo excited about this! Gonna be paying well a rents amount of money for a long time for my rainbow reflecting diamond!... now gotta plan for the "real" wedding!
And yeah I'm not gonna be the only happy one LOL 
It's just so gorgoeous! I can't wait to get it on my finger and show it off!

Oh, I have - did so when we were 21 because it was just expected, I guess. She doesn't get it either.
I tried again on our 10th anniversary - she made me take them back (diamond stud earrings). Said there were plenty more important things we could use the money for.

Now, on a more practical side, don't ever do that again! Diamonds are a Harvard Business School classic example of an artificial market. If the whole market weren't controlled by one family (DeBeers), then diamonds wouldn't even qualify for semi-precious status.
Don't get me wrong, ANYTHING purchased as a token of one's love for another is *precious* and should always be treasured. But, it doesn't mean having to give thousands of dollars to the DeBeers family for a common rock.
Enjoy it, there's nothing wrong with it.

Diamonds fall out of the setting and go down the drain. I've never even once seen an engine fall out of anything.
And, can a diamond make your hot rod go 130? Haaa, thought not!
