Today would have been my mothers 51st bday.  She died at age 45.  God rest her soul.  Has it really been more than 5 years?  Seems like just yesterday she was here.

I just felt like a post about something bigger than me would be good.  Sorry.  I just miss her terribly.

I'm with you T.  today is my late husband's birthday also.

I'm baking a cake and Caleb (my grandson) and I are going to sing Happy Birthday to Papaw. That way we make, what was going to be a sad day, into a celebration.

Hugs BD

You know, this April my dad has been gone for 10 years. I can't believe it's been that long.

BD, what a wonderful idea.

Sanna, it's amazing how it can be so long yet still seem like yesterday.

This is how our lost ones live on.  Remembering.

Edited to Add a poem I found a long time ago....
If Roses grow in Heaven, Lord, please pick a bunch for me, Place them in my Mother's arms and tell her they're from me. Tell her, I love her and I miss her, and when she turns to smile, place a kiss upon her cheek and hold her for awhile. Remembering her is easy, I do it every day, but there's an ache within my heart that will never go away. ~Author Unknown~

{{{{{{{{Taraann, BD, Sanna and everyone else who is feeling the ache in their heart for lost loved ones...}}}}}}}}

One of our close family friends is just about to go on hospice for complications to cancer treatment.  She is only in her early 50s.  She has 3 sons - none of which are married yet.  The middle one is my brother's best friend, and our friend who is so sick is like a 2nd mom for my brother.  This is my mom's best friend I'm talking about - and we've all been so close to their family for a long time.

The other day, my mom and I were talking about how hard it is to think about losing one you love so much, and all I could say to her was an old cliche, but it still fits....

"It's better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all."

My mom said, "That's so true!!"  If we never had an ache in our hearts for those we've lost, then maybe that would mean that we had never loved somebody so much to feel the pain when they are gone.  There's no question that it is very difficult and painful, but at least we have the memories of the love and of how special that person was to us.

BIG hugz to all of you,
Carrie Smiley

Yes so very, very true.  I'm sorry to hear about your family (a close friend to me is the same as family) it's so hard I know.

Thanks for the hugs all........ Some significant days are just like any other day, others (like today) are a bit bittersweet.
