My visit to the FNP........

I went to the DR or I guess in my case the FNP and they brought me back to the room and there on the wall was a poster about rating your headache and the chart actually listed Migraine, CLUSTER!!!!, and tension. I have never seen anything re: cluster on a wall. So the nurse walks in and I told her how I was shocked to see this poster because there aren't alot of people who know about clusters. She said "yah, you know there are alot of people who dont think that they are even real?" ummm escus-e-muah! Do a majority of people really think that it is all in our head? (no pun intended) but really???? Aubmari

I used to get pissed off at this (people's lack of knowledge), but now I just try to "forgive them, for they know not what they do." And speaking of ignorance, what's FNP?

Whoever wishes to trade me for even five minutes...... feel free to do so. I would never do that because it isn't in me but you feel like it sometimes. Aub

Ahhemmmm....back to the subject matter. I truly don't believe that a majority of people think it's all in our heads. I believe they don't know and don't care. Being born with a defective hypothalmus doesn't put me on a stage where I have to convince paying patrons that my pain is real. It is real - I know it, my bride and my son know it, my neuro knows it, and each of you know it. That's all that matters. When it comes right down to it, who cares what everybody else believes?

| You're right, Linda. I should modify my response: who cares what other people who cannot affect my health or the care thereof think? I won't lump your last bullet point in with that, however. Other people cannot make me more depressed. Only I can do that.

Hear, Hear, Linda! People who serve the Clusterhead community NEED to understand in order to serve appropriately! Awareness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Brew, some of these people do need to be excused, but only ONCE, then they should have been educated. Yes, it's a "headache".but the similarity stops there. It is like NO other headache, in a class by itself! Cathi

| To a point, yes. If someone can have any impact on my health or my healthcare, then yes, they should be educated. The reality is, though, that most people don't know about CH and therefore can't care about it. I only have to walk into a wall once before I realize that it's not a door.

--------She said "yah, you know there are alot of people who dont think that they are even real?"---------- First it was the Loch Ness Monster, then Area 51, then Susquatch. Now, Cluster Headaches. So I'm picturing some Deliverance looking mf'er saying it sometihng like this: "Lotta people round these parts ain't never actually seen one in person. Been rumored to live back in those woods. Couple of old droopy eyed old witches back in the woods just call him "the beast". Me, I don't believe'm"

Dr. Donohue, the newspaper MD, today replied to a headache question saying that not all severe headaches are Migraines. No shit. Not a peep about clusters in the reply however. I have to be fair though; he has mentioned clusters several times. But Geeze.... Charlie

Yep. I saw that same exact story in my newspaper Charlie and I gasped. What an opportunity to maybe SUGGEST clusters. I agree with you too Brewcrew about the depressed part. I give a rats behind, about people I meet who don't understand and not be depressed about it at all. but there ARE others here who cannot and their lives are affected by that.

| Here is where the line needs to be drawn. Although these people may not affect "our" life and health, they may be in a position where the lack of education and understanding may affect the life and health of another brother or sister in arms with this condition. That is why each and every person MUST understand CH well enough to sympathize as they do with people they have contact with suffering Migraine even though they don't suffer for themselves. That is point of educating about Migraine, so that there is an understanding and willingness to make the needed accomidations for the sufferers. It's no less, if not more SO important to educate on CH to the same degree.

| Maybe this is just a semantic argument, but I pissed into the wind once. I got it all over myself. From it I learned not to piss into the wind anymore. I'm not saying that the world wouldn't be a better place if a lot more people knew about CH. I try to educate everyone I can if the circumstances are right. But if I made it my mission in life to convert the world, it's all I'd be doing. I've got other things that I like to do, and most of them don't involve thinking about CH. Like I said, I think this is just a semantic argument. I'm pretty sure I'm on the same page as most everyone else here. I'm certainly not anti-education. But I have a life to live, too.

I understand that Brew, truely I do... But if everyone took that stance, there would be no OUCH, and no one working to further the cause of our plight. We are all we have...I don't see any celebrities or Politicians coming to help us. I remember back when I first was getting Divorced and was asked to run for a seat on the BoD of the Women in Poverty Innitiative. My first thought was...I'm living in low income poverty housing..what can I offer to this... "Who better..." I was told... A "so called" friend aske me...why do you have to do this, why not just live your life... I said to her... If everyone felt that way, no one would ever stand up for something and there would never be change....if not me...then who? Maybe it's closed some doors for me, but it's opened even more.
