Following the recent international conference of astronomers, Pluto's status as a planet has been cancelled.  It's new classification is too long for me to remember, and gobble-de-gook anyway, so I refer to it simply as a 'planette'.

Very cool, Bobw.
I just don't see how anyone could think we are alone in this universe.

I enjoyed seeing this post, notseinfeld.

Interested to learn recently that our personal pinwheel, containing all the stars shown--the Milky Way galaxy--is most likely a barred spiral a hundred thousand light years across, something like this:

Not a whirlpool like M31, as was long thought.

And,

To get an inkling of our position in the local universe.

Best,

Ah! The foreigners put on such airs
Wearing the tangerine suits
And their harlequin eyes.
The pain they inspire
Draws in harmonica melodies
And the feathers of birds
Which flame up at their touch.
It all comes to light in the sheer
Debonair.
