hi , i sit and write to disconnect from the pain as i have another dance with the beast ,i realize that i won`t sleep til morning.and i m tired walking the floors with ice packs.my dog is old but with me every step, sometimes she stops til i come back around but she by my side!!!!!!!she understands but then shes confused with me. how fast it can come on!!!!!!i pray that i will have releif soon , have my senses back ,my thoughts and yes some sleep , the ice does help but we all know the only relief is never to get them again !!!!!!my last was april 2005 , i see for some reason but look forward to this old friends return ,, if i can last 2 more hrs i will sleep , wish me and everyone best luck for all painless days and nights .

Sorry you're getting hit. Here is something that I used successfully most of the time: Dr. Wright’s Circulatory Technique: I am not sure what mechanism is triggered by this but whatever it is, at least indirectly helps kill the pain. I do know that this technique has nothing to do with meditation, relaxation, or psychic ability. It is entirely physical and takes some work. It involves concentrating on trying to redirect a little circulation to the arms, hands, or legs. It can described as a conscious circulatory flexing. Increased circulation will result in a reddening and warming of the hands. Try to think of it as filling your hands with redirected blood. The important and difficult part is that it has to be done without interruption through the pain. Do not give up in frustration. It may not work on the first try. Every now and then it will work almost immediately. I lived for those moments. Try experimenting between attacks. You will find that it gets easier with practice. I was given less than five minutes instruction in the use of method. The doctor, while placing his arm on his desk, showed me that he could slightly increase his arm and hand circulation. After several attempts, I was able to repeat this procedure and use it successfully. I have had about a 75% success rate shortening these attacks. My 20 minute attacks were often reduced to 10 minutes or less. Once proven that I had a chance to effectively deal with this horror, I always gave it a try as I had nothing to lose but pain. Perhaps it will help if you think of it as trying to fill the arm as if it is were an empty vessel. I used to try to imagine I was pushing blood away from my head into my arm. Use your imagination. There is one man who wrote that his standing barefoot on a concrete floor shortened his attacks. This may be similar as it draws some circulation away from the head. Cold water, exercise, or anything affecting circulation, seems to be worth a try. My suggestion is to not let up immediately when the pain goes. Waiting a minute is probably a good idea. So long as you do not slack off, this has a chance of working. This technique is very useful while waiting for medication to take effect or when none is available. It costs nothing, is non-invasive, and can be used just about anywhere. It is not a miracle but it helped me deal with this horror. It can be a bit exhausting but the success rate was good enough for me and a cluster headache sufferer will do just about anything to end the pain. It gives us a fighting chance. Charlie

well i thank you for the advice , i`m sure it may work for others as well as yourself , only i have a hard time drinking them on a good day lol , but i did pick up a can , and i will try it and i do thank you for the advice whole heartedly, i`ll let you know how things work out , i have had a few more ch`s since then but all were alot less sevre than the others , hopefully the meds are starting to kick in now and they will no longer be a terrible thing to worry about , i thank everyone for the support and to the gentleman who suggested i try oxygen , i never did try that but i think it would be something i would certainly try ,if i had the means to get it ,not sure how to go about that , my doctors not keen on that idea for some reason , thanks everyone once again ,it really is nice to know your not alone with this terrible condition , thanks ,may you all rest well and free from the beast

| Maybe, as his last parting gift to you, he took your pain with him. Don't think that kind of thing hasn't crossed my mind. Please accept my condolences. Stay strong.

I lost my dad to cancer in 1988(news years eve) and that was very painful. My mom is still with us but I sure do miss my dad. Time heals but still there is that void. Take care Glen and my prayers and thoughts go to you during this very difficult time. From a fellow Canuck Barry

good day all, first i like to say a great big thank you to all for the support and encourgement giving to me , believe me it does make a difference , as one wrote here in the forums ,knowing your not a freak is a positive thing haha. the ch`s are less painful now ,actually kinda bearable if that makes sense ,like we all enjoy a pain in the head, i think the meds are starting to work now if i can get back to a fairly normal life things wouldn`t be to bad ,except for the empty spot that`s left from the passing of my dad, but it`s getting better ,the people in my life are all great caring people and they do look for my best interest ,kinda like people here , so i think things will be ok in the long run .was reading many of the forums here and i realized that this is a very speacil group that does care about everyone who does end up here , which i sure many of us prefer that we never had to but we are . to all these people that help us in any way ,shape or form please except from me a heart felt thank you ,you may not know it but it may have saved someone`s life !!!! thanks again all and wishes of pfdan`s to all
