It was quite a night, from the coast to the mountaintops! Kirk, let us know you didn't end up in the drink....Brian (B Monee) and family, got power back yet? Kimberly (Kayarr), I'm looking for you as well..........and Mast, you didnt go unscathed I'm certain! Wind/rain/thunderstoms all around us. Tons of downerd trees and power lines. A quarter of a million customers in Portland alone still without power. WE JUST got our power back, and I really want to know everyone is ok. Whew! Check in, please??? Cathi

Clear with light winds in Boise. Above freezing. Some wind last night, but nothing too significant. George

I hope everyone is ok. Those poor guys on Mount Hood. The rescue team couldn't get above 4,000 feet yesterday. The weather looks very good for saturday, I just hope that the three men can hold on another day. One of them is from Brooklyn, so the story is getting alot of play here.

Ohh, I am soo enjoying this calm! They are telling us we have a snowstorm on the way next.....and the road to the casino is loaded with fallen trees!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What to do??? What to doo??? ummm, Linda. NOONE LOVES rain! Trust me....and why would I be concerned about you and Kathy?? LOL>>HMM? YOU are totally in CA! Ya twirp! Yes, I am worried about the men up on Mr Hood. The search crews have made it as far as 8000ft, and these men are purported to be near 11,000ft. Is there anything that can prepare one for a sitch like this? My heart goes out to 3 very strong families right now. Oh, and Zwibby..................HUH???????????? Cathi

It got down to the low 50's last night and will barely hit 70 this afternoon. We're struggling with this cold snap but please don't worry too much about us, we've learned to dress for these San Diego cold snaps. (see y'all in january) Guiseppi

Well, you aint shittin, Cathi. I happened to be on a plane coming home to Portland. Most flights were cancelled, but our plane took off 2 hours late and we arrived at 10. They said gusts to 60kts up by the airport. It was a bumpy ride, but we made it. When we landed we were told we were the last ones to come in and they were shutting down. What a night. I have limbs and crap all over my yard and driveway. It figures the new landscaper who said he would come 5 to 6 times a month has been here once in 7 weeks. Bastard. Party on B$

Thanks for checkin in Cathi...only one tree I had to run over on the way home tonite, couple of blocks from home. I didn't stick around last nite cause I was too fraid of a tree falling on my new car...that replaced the trooper that the tree fell on, LOL. Didn't bother us out here on the Coast. We're used to it I guess. The weather should be good enough today to get those three idiot yuppies off of Mt. Hood. People like that should be kept at home.

finally!!!!!!! Lost power at 5:30 on thursday and the crews from Utah are here now to restore our power now. sunday at 2:15. thursday I had heard that the winds were going to be up to 70 mile an hour gusts. I called Jeff and told him. going home traffic was insane and I had to find alternate routes due to downed trees. The gusts were even moving the Lincoln around....yikes! It took 1 3/4 hours to get home. (normally a 35 minute commute) I pulled into a dark driveway with Jeff guiding my way with a flashlight The trees were dancing around us as we walked into a dark and cold house. Sitting in the living room lit by candles there was one specific gust that could be heard coming from a ways off. IT had to have been at least 70 miles an hour. fortunately we have been fixing my parents Motorhome so they coud sell it. The generator was working but not well. We had enough gas to run it for a while. We slept on the fold out couch with the winds swirling all around us. Jeff went and got a battery so I could get to work in the morning. I recycled my work clothes and re french braided my hair and went to work after about 5 very fitful hours of sleep. (poor jeff had headaches until about 4. How do I know? That couch/bed was horrible. Poor Jeff almost fell off because of the slant a couple times but he had to be on the outside edge cause of his head) part 1: Wicked Winds

while I was at work Jeff worked on surveying the damage, contacting the right people, securing the motorhome with all the necessities. He drove the motorhome down and got gas so we could run the generator. he tried at several places to just be able to use their outside hose to fill the water tank but no one would do it??? He finally thought of the fire house down the road and they were happy to help he found one bad leaning tree behind the house. It is pointed at our bedroom. The landlord has hired someone to take care of it next week.......yikes! The culprit tree was one of ours too and it fell across the fence and the neighbors driveway and took out the power lines and the transformer. (so that was what the loud POP and flash was?) We have spent the last three days in the motorhome. Now my honey really took care of business and made sure we could have hot water, heat, sheets on the twin beds in back (feel like Rob and Laura Petrie). He even spent about 4 hours trying to make the cable less snowy by replacing the cable line a few times from the house or by rewiring inside the walls, checking for breaks in the cable, replacing the bad ends on the cables asking for differences while he or I "wiggle" the cable....... We watched football today and I made our traditiional sunday brunch. So now that they promise power soon...it's now 3:00pm sunday.....thought I would share a first hand account of Wicked Winds 2006.
