I am sooooooooo stoopid!!!! I take Omega 3, 6, and 9 pills. (Fish oil). I left 4 of them in my pocket of my work pants and washed them. the whole load of work clothes smells like fish. (bad ass!) and I cannot get the smell out. it's STRONG - even after 5 washings. When I discovered WHY it smelled like that - i cut the pocket out of my pants .....cuz it was all crusty and nasty.... thought that would help - but NO. I asked people at work what to do to get the smell out and I was told...... 1. vinigar -- tried this - didnt work 2. lemon juice - then someone else told me it might discolor the clothes??? 3. baking soda - tried - didnt work 4. tomato juice - dont know how much or what?? 5. bleach - cant - will discolor the clothes 6. ammonia - REALLY??? I tried the fabreeze laundry stuff. Didnt work I tried the oxyclean stuff - didnt work. so - how do i get the smell out??? anyone have a tip?? The load is full of my work pants and shirts and Ramon's work pants and shirts...we NEED this stuff. I cant just throw it all out....... my work shirts are 40.00 a piece, and there was 4 of them in there. stoooopid woobie

Fill a sink with tomato juice but not to full. add pants make sure they get fully submersed. set for about 2-3 hrs. drain or drink your choice, add hot water to soak till water cools drain then wash in cold water . have had to get bad fish smell out when worked at a cannery for a couple months. this worked best for me. good luck. Don’t know if this will work but try soaking them in a solution of Simple Green and water, the stuff breaks down enzymes and oils so it might work? Matt

Invest in some 20 Muleteam Borax and dump several cups in the wash. I usually let it soak for a while, then hit the wash button. Takes smells out of everything I wash (especially greasy dish cloths - those things get yucky at times). Hugs BD

Yeah, Brew - but in this load was 6 pairs of pants, 4 of my work shirts ($40.00 a piece) and 4 of Ramon's work shirts.... and some socks and stuff. I am gonna try the Muleteam Borax first - a lot less messy than the tomato juice. (and I have some) If that doesnt work, I'll try the Simple Green stuff - and if that doesnt work, I'll try the tomato juice. That's A LOT of tomato juice for a super capacity load of laundry - holy bats that'll take me forever! shit. it's gonna be a long night thanks for the input ya'll! stoopid woobs

Oops. I thought this was just one pair of pants you were talking about. Yeah, it's worth it to try the borax route.

| Nice part you can actually reuse the juice do 1 garment at a time then rinse in a different sink. 1 poss problem is the color may red up a little if white in that case after washing in cold wash in hot then dry.

For me, a little bit of ammonia has worked to kill odors but I've not used it in a machine. Probably couldn't hurt. Good luck. Charlie

Kids and I were just watching myth busters tonight, and they confirmed a remedy that at least neuralizes skunk smell, it may work for this too....Baking soda, hydrogen peroxide and a dash of dish liquid. If it will kill skunk smell it should kill fish. Worth a shot anyway.

LOL>>I've google my goggles off for El Skunko..here's the best, at least in theory, for keeping them away....... Use equal parts of Murphy's Oil Soap Borax, dissolved in 1 cup water Human Urine Spray in and around areas where skunk has ventured. Now, we need to cover an acre, plus on and under about 3000sf of deck, the crawlspace and our basement. I got the Borax, got the oil soap, even have the pressure sprayer........but I think I'm gonna be short on the last item on the list......... Gotta go now..... gonna make the boyz drink a lot of beer! Cathi

Tina, Have you tried Dawn dishwashing liquid? It take oil and grease out of anything. I've washed my clothes in it from work, after getting grease from the forklift truck on them, and maybe when the grease (or oil) is gone, the odor will disappear. Good Luck!
