On this, the 65th anniversary of Pearl Harbor, I'd like to make a very small gesture of respect to that great generation who truly did save the world from falling into darkness.

My own (much loved) World War II generation is almost all vanished now--but I will not forget, nor will I ever cease to appreciate the sacrifices and the heartache they endured to bring us into a better world.  Soldiers and civilians, women and men.  May we demonstrate even a tenth of their quiet fortitude.

I will miss them more than I can say when they are finally all gone.

Best wishes,

Ah! The foreigners put on such airs
Wearing the tangerine suits
And their harlequin eyes.
The pain they inspire
Draws in harmonica melodies
And the feathers of birds
Which flame up at their touch.
It all comes to light in the sheer
Debonair.

George, check out this link I think you will like it www.maam.org

click on the WW2 weekend link on the left side and take your time looking around. If you have your sound on you will hear some great period music to go with the pics.

I have gone to this event to volunteer for the last several years and have had the honor of meeting and getting photo's with some great guys. I know almost all of the remaining Tuskegee airmen and have a signed picture of all of the surviving Band of Brothers as well as tons of signed books. All of the proceeds go to supporting the Museum in it's effort to make sure that we never forget our Allied WW2 heroes.

I know it is not your neck of the woods but if you could I would love to meet you there. I am not aware of any other gathering of this many surviving vets. It is indescribable, and what is truly amazing is if you happen to be a veteran of any later action these men and women get tears in their eyes as they are thanking you for your service to their country.

My brother is the webmaster, also volunteer.....Tim
