Question for a Brit
« on: Dec 4th, 2006, 3:22pm »
Quote Quote Modify Modify

I got an e-mail this morning from some friends that live in a place named Costessey although that is not how they say it.

They are most interested in coming to America even though they own 2 houses in that area. Why?

I started googling to see the Sports Park where she "Donna" just got a good position and came across this website,

http://www.picturesofengland.com/mapofengland/east-anglia-map.html  if you page down to the picture tour the 3rd one shows boats on a canal. Are they Houseboats? Do they let yanks move there, and can ya get a job?

This whole area is gorgeous Smiley....Tim

River Bure, Acle, Norfolk Broads

You have real good taste Tim, the Norfolk broads are an absolutely beautiful area and i have spent many hours on them in my life as they are only about an hour and a half from me. Yes their are houseboats on the Bure and anyone can move on if they have the permits, on the job front if you have knowledge of all things watercraft a job around that area is just about guaranteed. There are also many industrial areas around that area.
As to why they would want to move away i cant answer as i would love to live over there, i would be in my element all those rivers, my partner would never see me. lol

I'm proud to be a Brit, I'd move from here for love but not without a sickening wrench at what I'd have to leave behind.
Carrie and Matt will tell you how much joy I got from sharing my country with them  Wink
HOPEFULLY they won't be the only ones, Jimi and Ruthie are talking about coming in 2007, don't let them be the last of my visitors please  Kiss

Ok, I went back to the site. Which county is Bath in? And dape I am a river freak!!!
I will try to look up as many of you as possible when we go to visit David and Donna Wink

They don't want to move permanently its just that they are both certified dive master instructors and I guess there is not a lot of that there. We met them on St. Marteen, and I instantly fell in love with British women and ex Royal Marines Grin

All within a 20 mile radius and they all have small tributaries that run off them, that is some of the best river fishing i have had.
Ther is quite a bit of diving around that area the only problem is there are a lot of people in that area that do it.

Tim,
You are a man of particular good tastes, you are talking about the very county I live in, I do hope that when you come to visit your friends you will consider being my guest.  They live in a slightly more pictureques part of the county, but I am sure you could rough it over this side of the county.
There are quite a lot of American living in this area, many of them service men and women from Lakenheath and Mildenhall both of which are only a few miles from here.  Quite a few of them decide to stay here when their service time is up, and work in local industries, some take job with the Military as civilain and work on the bases.  You will have to get over sometime you'll be welcome here      Cheers Roy Grin

It's the trip I am saving for. Long at the top of my wish list and yet we keep going other places, but in fairness most of our trips are family related and I can honestly say there is only 1 state in the US that I have yet to visit, so we do get around Grin

You can bet I will be looking to meet you all when I do get to your side of the pond!.....Tim

Hey Tanner

If you do get to go to East Anglia make sure you meet up with Simon Bower aka Dolly aka 001. He lives there and was the original founder of OUCH so many years ago.
We all owe a lot to him (I think OUCH US still use the letter he composed for sufferers to give to employers/friends etc that explains CH) and when you see the ground breaking brain images of a CH brain during an attack which helped PG identify the hypothalamus as part of the problem, that is his brain in the image. He was brave enough to allow them to trigger an attack and brain scan and film him while he was having it.
He is a really great bloke when you meet him too.

This where  I live and I like it if you like Bootnecks (sorry royal Marines) then vist Plymouth (Devon) where alot of them train or Poole where their special Ops wing is ( A bit like SEALs but obviously better).  Christ knows why you would want to associate with the Booties when you could see the ROYAL Airforce alot better class of person.  Indeed the only ones refeered to as gentlement by our Queen.  On account of the fact we have yet to mutinee.;

take care

Wendy, when not if I get to Costessey, I will positively look up whom ever you can suggest. I would love to meet Mr. Bower!
I had a scan taken during attach, perhaps I should bring it even though its about 18 years old now.

BoyBath, can you give me a handier Nick? Either way my very good friend that I will be coming to visit is an ex Royal Marine but it is not his 6ft3" 220lbs. I would be concerned with it is his 5ft4" sweetie of a wife.  laugh laugh
