My day -- thank goodness it's almost over...

My lovely 60 mutt Homer woke me at 3:30 a.m. Of course this was the time that Mr. Beast decided to visit, so I'm grabbing the Red Bull and Coffee and Homer and Rudy (the 5 pound mini-pin who's just gotten up) start raising hell. Then they go outside and all is quiet for a while.

They come back in and start trying to tear a side table apart (it has shelves and they're knocking everything out of the shelves). I go look, but see nothing. This goes on till around 7 a.m. and by then I'm ready to scream so I go look again. Somehow a little possum had gotten in the house and was holed up in the side table. I decide it's time to do something, so I grab a cane and start poking on one side while the dogs are raising cain on the other side. Possum decides he doesn't like the cane so he jumps out of the table. Wrong move! Homer had him between his teeth in a death grip before he hit the floor.   Then I had to tell them what "wonderful" babies they were. Homer took the dead possum to all the neighbors to show his FIRST kill. They were impressed I'm sure.

Did I mention that I had a LOT of cookies baked. We had company so I had them on the table (in zip lock bags). Then the kids and I went out to dinner and I left the cookies on the table. When we got home -- NO COOKIES! Homer didn't even bother to clean up the baggies in the yard after he ate ALL of them. So I had to bake more cookies today.

And tomorrow is Caleb's birthday so we had to bake a birthday cake. He loves to decorate so now I've got a kitchen in need of a good scrubbing. Oh well, he's only five once.

Oh and this morning the weather was about 70 degrees when I got up. It's now 25 and sleeting... The roads are slippery as hell - I noticed when I almost had a wreck going after Caleb at school.

But now we've blown out the candles on the cake, eaten dinner and the kitchen is fairly clean. I'm going to take my meds and go to bed.

As Scarlett would say, "Tomorrow is another day!"

Sounds like the little one had an exciting birthday!! I haven't gotten away with birthday cake in a long time.
The usual response is "Gross mom. That will like make me like so fat."

I'm jealous. Possums and all.

Hope you sleep all night long.

I took an extra melatonin so I probably will sleep good. The ice is coming down (sleet) and I can usually sleep real good with the weather is horrible.

Caleb loves to bake, so his birthday cake was special. He put in the "ingredients" (can't crack an egg yet, but the other stuff he does real well with). He loved the sticking the toothpick in it. In fact he almost tore up the top of the cake sticking toothpicks in it, but the icing covered the holes he left. Then we put Scooby Doo on it and crayon candles. Then he got carried away with the "decorations". I think we have about every kind of candy you can imagine on top of it -- all pretty colors.

Now he's upset cause we can't put up "our" Christmas tree (he can't decorate the one at home cause it has to be "perfect" - the one at Granny's is whatever...). The place where we put the tree is stacked up with moving boxes right now and the barn is full so I can't move them until we get in the new house. Guess I'll have to find an empty spot to put up "our" tree.

Then I got a lovely note from my tax software people that they shipped the 2006 initial disk yesterday. Just what I wanted to think about -- taxes.....

Oh well -- I'm off to bed and "Law and Order" (at least five minutes of it -- usually am alseep after that.

BD,
We have an opossim in our basement....well, it's not a full basement, and after the squirrel died in my Easter decorations, Gil screened off the portion that IS basement, so now this sucker glares at me with his beady eyes whenever I set foot in the dungeo...err basement-HEY...I'm a California girl! I am NOT accustomed to basements OR critters.........well, cept the gophers that used to try to swim in our pool....but they were easy. We found em every morning, doing the backstroke..they don't swim.at all........
ANYWHOOO>>>I digress.......
BD, if we promise to feed em well, and keep them safe from our dog-hating 4 cats, wouldja consider letting us borrow the dogs for awhile???

Happy Birthday, Caleb...........

Night Granny, stay warm!
