Great list, how 'bout these: Here's a quarter, call someone who cares. All my exes live in Texas, that's why I live in Tennessee Thank God and Greyhound she's gone I've got tears in my ears , laying in bed crying over you She got the gold mine, I got the shaft Drop kick me Jesus through the goalposts of life Then there's this one (David Alan Coe) that sums it up: I was drunk the day my ma got out of prison And I went to pick her up in the rain But before I could get to the station in my pickup truck She got runned over by a damn old train. How can anyone not love lyrics like these..... Long Haired Country Boy, Charlie Daniels People say I'm no-good, crazy as a loon. I get stoned in the morning, I get drunk in the afternoon. Kinda like my old blue tick hound, I like to lay around in the shade, An', I ain't got no money, But I damn sure got it made. 'Cos I ain't askin' nobody for nothin', If I can't get it on my own. If you don't like the way I'm livin', You just leave this long-haired country boy alone. Preacher man talkin' on the TV, He's a-puttin' down the rock 'n' roll. He wants me to send a donation,'Cos he's worried about my soul. He said: "Jesus walked on the water,"And I know that is true, But sometimes I think that preacher man, Would like to do a little walkin', too. But I ain't askin' nobody for nothin', If I can't get it on my own. You don't like the way I'm livin', You just leave this long-haired country boy alone. A poor girl wants to marry, And a rich girl wants to flirt. A rich man goes to college,And a poor man goes to work. A drunkard wants another drink of wine,And a politician wants a vote. I don't want much of nothin' at all,But I will take another toke. 'Cos I ain't askin' nobody for nothin',If I can't get it on my own. If you don't like the way I'm livin', You just leave this long-haired country boy alone.

I personally don't like country music. Just like some people probably don't like the kind of music I listen to. But I don't think Charlie Daniels is country. That's just good music. Like Patsy Cline. Some things are so good they transcend genre.

"Were you born 'an not a very nice person' or did you work at it your whole life? Either way it worked out fine, 'cause you're 'an not a very nice person' tonight." Jimmy Buffet. Maybe not country, but the heart is in the right place. Dang censor. Doesn't seem to scan quite the right way.... George

Ah! The foreigners put on such airs Wearing the tangerine suits And their harlequin eyes. The pain they inspire Draws in harmonica melodies And the feathers of birds Which flame up at their touch. It all comes to light in the sheer Debonair. (Ellen)

IMO the most appropriate for OUR lives........... Well, you know those times when you feel like There's a sign there on your back. Says: "I don't mind if you kick me; "Seems like everybody has." Things go from bad to worse: You think they can't get worse than that an' then they do. You step off the straight an' narrow, An' you don't know where you are. Use the needle of your compass, To sew up your broken heart. Ask directions from a genie, In a bottle of Jim Beam an' she lies to you. Well, that's when you learn the truth: If you're goin' through hell, Keep on goin'. Don't slow down: If you're scared don't show it. You might get out, 'Fore the devil even knows you're there. Well, I've been deep down in that darkness, I been down to my last match. Felt a hundred different demons, Breathin' fire down my back. An' I knew that if I stumbled, I'd fall right into the trap that they were layin', yeah. But the good news is there's angels, Everywhere out on the street. Holdin' out a hand, To pull you back up on your feet: The one's that you been draggin' so long, You're on your knees; you might as well be prayin'. Guess what I'm sayin': If you're goin' through hell, Keep on goin'. Don't slow down: If you're scared don't show it. You might get out, 'Fore the devil even knows you're there. Yeah, if you're goin' through hell, Keep on movin'. Face that fire: Walk right through it. You might get out, 'Fore the devil even knows you're there. Oooh. Instrumental break. If you're goin' through hell, Keep on goin'. Don't slow down: If you're scared don't show it. You might get out, 'Fore the devil even knows you're there. Yeah, if you're goin' through hell, Keep on movin'. Face that fire: Walk right through it. You might get out, 'Fore the devil even knows you're there. Yeah, you might get out, 'Fore the devil even knows you're there. Yeah. Ooh, ooh ooh. Oh.
