Hello all. I have had lazer eye-lid surgery done. I used to blame it on that "headache"  that &*(&^^.  The surgeon did both eye-lids and they are great. Not the same for the ch. They returned as expected. Still smoke free 14 months, thats my thing, my eye-lid would be closed prior to attack, great for photos,  Tongue anybody with droopy permanent eye-lids?  Huh angie put batman fig to post not me I really do not like it

Sounds to me like you need your doctor's help. If you can't take it you need to get to an emergency room immediately.

None of us are doctors (well, one is - BB - but she would never give out medical advice to an individual over the internet because it would be unethical). We can help by supporting, but I gotta tell ya, I've never heard of anyone around here having surgery for droopy eyelids. You're the first. A bunch of us get what is called Horner's syndrome, one of the symptoms of which is a droopy eyelid on the same side as the headache shortly before and during the hit.

You need a doctor, my friend. And like I said, if the pain is unbearable, get someone to take you to an emergency room.

I'm still working on this. I confess that I don't understand your post. I'm slow though.

Is there something wrong with the surgery or are you posting that the surgery has something to do with CH in that it returned? If that's the case, it ain't so.

You will find that CH attacks almost always go on "hold" during traumatic stuff like surgery. It's self-preservation, I guess. Shocks to the system or other demanding things do wonders for CH while they last.

As I type this, I feel that I'm still missing something.

I need help with your post.

This is Barry's Wife. I just got home from work. He is on a new medication, seems to be having a reaction to this. Just started these meds yesterday. Now that I am home I will be monitoring what he is doing.

Sorry for any confusion.

Just to clarify, after 2 years of cluster heachaches his right eye lid would not open anymore. Doctors were not sure why just that all the muscles were damaged probably horners syndrome. He just wanted to know if any one else had a problem with their eyelid not coming open again.

Sorry once again. Angela.

Angela, I think you need to take your husband back to see his doctor/specialist now if you are saying that the new medication, whatever that is , is causing him this much "reaction" that he doesnt seem to know what he is doing or talking about. I dont think just you monitoring what he is doing is the right thing to do. I am not giving medical advice, just a general suggestion.

People with CH have Horners syndrome during an attack causing the affected eyelid to swell and shut closed. Mostly it resolves once the hit ends to return with the next hit. I have heard of some people who have had a lot of hits through the years developed a form of permanent droopy lid where its hard for them to keep that eye fully open. But I havent heard of anyone whose eyelid stays completely shut permanently, nor of anyone else having eyelid surgery. Are you sure it was caused by CH and nothing else?

My concern with that type of surgery would be that since it was likely to be caused by CH, and he is still getting hit, wouldnt it come back again even after surgery?

Therefore the best bet, all things considered, is for him to be reviewed by his CH doctor(s) and possibly by the surgeon who did the eyelid surgery. Something just doesnt sound right here  Huh  Huh

Best wishes and painfree days and nights to you.

Annette

My right eyelid droops somewhat, but not to that kind of an extent.  Another clusterhead might recognize it, but I don't think anyone else would.  I'm with Annette on this.  Get to your Dr pronto, and check the meds too!

Sounds pretty crappy and I think you should look into it.

I wanted to pluck out my eye a few times when getting hit but other than red and teary, nothing like what you describe.

Good luck and let us know how things work out.
