This is so bizarre. And yep, people will watch. I'm still not sure I understand the "not guilty" in criminal court but "guilty" in civil court. We have an extremely odd system of justice in this country. PFDAN y'all, kathy

| ...... What's really sad is that members of the jury from the criminal trial have said they would have convicted him had they been shown the evidence that was surpressed by Judge Lance Ito. If the trial had gone on anylonger his lips would have been stuck in a permanent pucker from kissing the defense teams a$$.

| Yeah, we should get rid of that pesky loophole called the Fifth Ammendment. Quote: U.S. Constitution: Fifth Amendment - Rights of Persons No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation. |

| Floridian - I understand the 5th amendment. But I also understand that there are times such as this when there is additional evidence that was withheld or not available that should be allowed to be heard again. But oh well we could not convict him without a shodow of the doubt so we have to let this person who we know is guilty go. Especially when this person is not openly stating how he would would do it. There is something lacking in the judicial system when they allow critical evidence to be withheld for a loop hole. That evidence would have convicted OJ. That is why he was found guilty in the civil case because they only had to tip the scales to say yes it is likely that he did do it, and the defence could not show anything to show that he did not do it escept say that the criminal case found him not guilty. it is amazing to me that if someone is found guilty then the defense can apeal it and supply new evidence, but if someone s found innocent, then they hide behind the 5th amendment.

| OK Tia, you can tell us.... You're really John Ashcroft, aren't you I was wondering where you'd gotten off to. Here's the part of the fifth that gets me. Based on what they did with this part, I'm surprised that they haven't retried OJ. " nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation. " I just feel all safe and well protected by the constitution, thinking of all the corvettes and speed boats that end up in police hands when they catch a guy with an ounce of marijuana. I believe there is a bill on Bush's desk now, waiting for his signature, that officially renames the Bill of Rights, the Bill of Suggestions. Bobw

| hehe PF. I love you to. Who would guess that this "liberal right free lover", as my old boss used to call me, would get that statement. No hun - I just dont work in an office that constantly talks politics, so I dont get a chance to rumble feathers that much. From a Legal standpoint, the OJ trial was a farse. It would just be so nice to see that arse munch get karma knocking at his front door.

This place would be pretty uncomfortable without the fifth amendment. While slimey things like OJ slip through, it was put in there by very bright people and they knew exactly what they were doing. Best not to fool with the Constitution on small stuff. It's why it's hard to do as it can bring losts of pain. You get one chance to send someone to the dungeon only and that's damned healthy. That millions will tune in to see the show, says a lot about the shit we put up with on TV. I have to wonder about the bottom feeders that came up with this idea. What a shame if they and Simpson got on the wrong side of some guys from New Jersey though... Charlie
