australian halloween

= kids walking the streets with dodgy costumes thrown together with black t shirts and tracksuit pants, some novelty costumes bought from Kmart at 7pm with bright sunlight and 25 degrees celsius.
nobody has any sweets to give because they all forget its halloween. (unles they have kids).
if your unlucky a trick will result in an egg being throw at and often falling short of the house.
mums and dads gather on the front lawn for a beer while they watch there kids walk the street they live in.
I guess we have lost some of the halloween magic that you guys have
dont forget the rerun of a simspons halloween special.

I watched a show today called Back Story today, about the behind the scenes stuff that went on for the movie 'Halloween'. Great movie, one of few that scare me. Turns out, they filmed in Cali, and made it look like a Midwestern town(Haddonfield, IL).
A few scenes, if you look, there are palm trees in the background. Also, they shipped in some leaves, blew them around to make it look like autumn, then raked 'em up, and used 'em for the next scene.
Anyway, Halloween anywhere warm is not the same as somewhere cold, rainy, and windy. But you don't have to scrape any soap off your windows, either

Dozens of kids roaming the neighborhood here now, some in elaborate costumes. Jack-o-lanterns glowing at every house--some of the neighbors go all-out for Halloween and have complete spooky graveyards on their front lawns. Just gave candy to a miniature vampire, a princess, and a skeleton.
My daughter stayed home this evening to help hand out candy to the younger kids. She's dressed in costume as well.
It's just-right cold and crisp here, and the wind is blowing leaves around.
Man, I love Halloween.

In truth Halloween is very new to Australia. Certainly never happened when I was a boy. Back then we our version of Guy Faulkes night but all those fireworks during the height of the bushfire season pretty much put a stop to it.
I guess Halloween sort is sort of filling the gap.

I always loved Halloween as a kid, but things have changed now.
You have to be careful where your kids trick or treat and then check the contents of their bags for things that shouldn't be there.
The one annual "fun" thing that we all do is roll my son's neighbor's house (Mr. Clean). It's gotten to be a tradition. All the neighbors get together with toliet paper and when he gets up on Nov 1st it looks like it snowed on his house and yard. He's a good sport.
Hope everyone got lots of candy last night.

American Halloween..
3 different parties, took my nephew trick or treating, 2 pub stops to meet up with friends, came home, walked the Zombie, then another late night party which I just came home from.
I have to be at work in 2 hours, but hey - Halloween comes once a year. Hell, I am used to being up 3-4 days at a time. I slept til noon yesterday so I am good til Friday at least. 
Let it all bleed out,

Saw that too, on The Movie Channel. I knew it was out west and that there are a palm tree or two showing in long shots. Lots of interesting things and it actually got me to see it again. How many times have we seen Jamie Lee stuck stuck in that closet?
I have to give them credit for finding such a good midwestern-looking neighborhood in Beverly Hills.
