an hour message should work out most pain and make her feel like a million dollars.  The cost is resonable and you can find a person who gives messages in beauty saloons such as JCPenny's, athletic clubs, or independants in the phone book.

Physical therapy provided by her dr and medical clinic will also help.

It is up to YOU to educate yourself and then help your doctor plan your treatment. If you just sit down in front of your doctor and say "make me better" you are setting yourself up for a great deal of pain.

I don't see how smaller jugs that would help that much, and it would be expensive and involve surgery.

Advice here will run the gamut I am sure.  The couple of back injuries I have had, were treated with ibuprofen and just getting back to work. Things always came back into place after a few days of just going through the old motions.  Rest never did anything for me but delay recovery.  JMO

One day of rest, then get active.

Alternate the heat/cold, and make him give you lots of massages.

Capsaicin cream is good for pain relief (symptoms only) - but don't combine it with a hot-pack.

Glucosamine is good for rebuilding soft tissue like cartilage (which might be injured, depending on what went on inside the back).
