A Literal Crapfest

After a hell week I will not go into (lets just say I got hit 5 times at work Thursday), I was asked to work a double saturday thru sunday so my bosses could 'get away for the weekend'. Since it was my boss Ken's Bday, insanity got the best of me and I said yes. A 24 hour shift. Certainly I should be able to crash in the recliner at some point for a couple hours, right?

Wrongo!

I deal with someone with brain damage. His older brother, my client has a brain injury. Kidding. My clients little brother, while being a spazz sometimes is okay, and he was gone to the Dresden Dolls concert for the evening.
Anyway, 7pm Saturday my client goes to the bathroom, and afterwards I hear water running for about 5 minutes. I'm thinking at this point, "OMG, he washed his hands without me having to tell him to." About that time the bathroom door opens and I hear him yell "Toilet's overflowing!" I race towards the bathroom where water is already coming down the hall into the dining room. He wiped with about half a roll of toilet paper and flooded the house. I had to turn off the water to the toilet, and spent the night trying to clean up the mess, plunged the toilet for 5 hours and STILL couldn't get it to go down. It flooded into the basement, and was a complete catastrophe. Ruined my shoes, and got my BP up about 20% above normal. So, while he slept - I was awake cleaning up shit everywhere (literally) thinking, "I Do NOT make enough money to deal with this shit!"

Finally, after not getting hit all night, his brother gets on the puter after he gets home from the concert, and I kick back in the recliner. He has seen me in attacks before. It felt like I slept maybe two minutes but he said I was out for a half hour. I jumped out of the recliner with a full blown hit, ran to my bag and grabbed the Trex. It freaked him out bigtime!

Got home yesterday about 3:30pm, and had to be back this morning. Walked in to several messes to clean, and my client was delusional as usual and irritable, which made me very irritable.

I am right now thanking God I am off tomorrow, and doing beer therapy!!! Wink

I also just took a job every other friday starting Nov 3rd, calling trivia for trivia night at O'Connell's Irish Pub up the street. One of my buddies hijacked me Friday night and we went out for a couple of beers while they were doing trivia. They guy who calls it comes up to the table and asks, "Do you guys know anyone who would be interested in calling the trivia every other friday?" I asked how much it paid. 30 bucks for 3 hours. I looked at him and said, "Dude, you got your guy right here." And so they had me call a quick game to test me out, and I start officially Nov 3rd.

They are announcing my radio show on Satellite 11 network now and Ian said, "Yes, Mack Danger will be hosting for 12 hours on Sundays. You might think that is crazy, but I know him personally so I can vouch that he is indeed crazy." Maybe all of this will help me realize my goal of getting out of the ghetto by this time next year, but who knows.

Peace,
Carl D

Carl, sounds like you need a vacation.  Call and come by the woods of montgomery, tx.  You can enjoy some down home cookin' and the sights and smells of the country!  We have a pond, the beginnings of a rollercoaster, and a go-cart.  You could relax in the hammock too!

Sounds like a normal day for me. Absolutly everything goes wrong, and even worse I don't get paid for it.

I hope you new jobs will help you, as they will give you time with other peaple, and let you do something you enjoy.

Clusterwife - I've been saying for weeks now that I need a vacation. You're invitation is sooooo tempting, but if I can go anywhere, it will be DavCon '07 in January. I'm missing the CH fam bigtime and if I can swing it, will get there Thursday night so I have more time to hang with peeps.

Paul, everyday is a new adventure at my job. I never know what I am going to walk into next. One thing is for sure: I will NEVER do another 24 hours straight again. My nerves are shot enough as it is.

Peace,
Carl
