I say yes! There is a certain slumlord in a college town where I once live that needs to be made responsible for monitoring the visa status of hundreds of students that he rents to - and jailed when he slips up.
What about restaurants and grocery stores that serve food to illegals? Surely, they too should be held accountable. Along with everyone else, except the illegal employers.

And banned from stealing cars. The laws against stealing cars should be made tougher on illegals. If my car is going to be stolen, I want it stolen by an American in good standing with the law.

My great grandparents were illegals, how many generations back do you have to go??
There are some issues I have with illegal immigration, there are some that I don't.
Answer these questions......................................
Question 1 - Why is it that the United States Massachusetts gives illegals welfare and Mass Health , when thier spouses work for cash and they don't pay any tax?
This is my bitch, I have to pay for my own health insurance, secondly my wife doesn't work, therefore we can't get welfare but they have that supplemental income. And please don't tell me its because they don't make enough money, most get from 12 to 15 dollars an hour cash up here and they work 75+ hours a week, you do the math.
I am not bashing anybody here, I just feel the governmennt should say no, your not a citizen, your not entitled to government benefits till you are, sort of thing. As for them living here and working here, I wish them all the luck in the world just don't abuse the system.
Can this issue be fixed or is it too late? And how can this be addressed and to who.

Flo your probably one of the most smartest people in here, how can we fix this, or do you agree with this ? I understand we're land of the free, but I have yet to find this so called place here in the good ol' USA They make me pay, why is it they don't have too, and the government is apparently ok with it?

Lets just fire the border patrol agents, open up the borders, let who ever wants in enter and let them buy houses and property and businesses. Lets pay them a better wage so they can send more money out of the country and maybe then they can bring more family and friends in.....................I don't think so.
What gives anyone the right to enter another country "illegaly" and drain that countries resources?

As far as the Mass laws, I have no idea. I think we need to have some type of universal coverage for insurance, though it won't be easy given the political obstacles - people with no insurance, or bad insurance are not organized and can't even see the cause of the problem. The insurance companies, on the other hand, are organized, funded, and are quick to act if their interests are threatened.

I never said that every one has a legal right to come here and drain our resources.
I have repeatedly stated that the most cost effective way to limit illegal immigration is to increase the penalties and enforcement against the people that hire illegals. Our illegal servants are here because there are illegal pay-masters. The poor people that come here have little to lose if they are caught. If the president of Hormel Meats or Tyson Chicken did hard time and had his house, yacht, and airplane confiscated, then suddenly there would be very few jobs, and lots of people hitch-hiking south.
I have said that building a wall would be an expensive, innefective waste. I don't think that we need to turn landlords and restauranteurs and used car dealers into government agents.
Looking for the root cause? Follow the money. That's what the illegal servants do.

I really have to agree with Flo that the best way to put an end to this is start with the employers. If the illegals don't have a job to come to, they are going to be far less likely to put forth that effort to run the border.

They should be going back, then apply legally.
We came legally and had to work from the word go. I have been working since 15 years old and have not stopped since.
And yes I did start out working as a cleaner after school and in the weekends then progressed to sales and now I am here.
We should treat our country like our house, only allow in those who treat us with respect, and we should have the rights to oust the ones who dont.

Hmmm, my grandfather was LEGAL, he was born in the US. My father however, was born in Canada. I was born in Canada. I immigrated here LEGALLY and had no claim to citizenship or immigration because of my grandfather. I am not allowed ANY government assistance without naturalizing. My immigration costs to date range near $5000.00 and I had no 'professional' help i.e. immigration lawyers etc. that would have added huge $$$ to the cost.
Several other friends I know that are immigrants that have done it legally have all said, the better way to go was to come here illegally, get all the goodies and then get a fast track to citizenship on top of it all.
I tend to agree with Flo in regards to starting in the direction of a solution. Those of us who follow the law and play by the system rules have less rights and priviledges than those who don't. That hardly makes doing things legally that attractive.

Get off your apathetic butts and get out and VOTE!!! That's the way to start to solve the problem.
Incumbents don't have a clue what to do (some have had generations and still don't have a clue) - vote 'em out and get some NEW blood in DC, in your respective states and your local government. We only allow a president to serve 10 years - why do we left congress serve for life? always been a mystery to me.
Then let your congressmen and senators KNOW how you feel. If they don't see things YOUR way - vote 'em out next time.
The problem with illegals has been going on for quite a while - it's not going to be solved overnight.
Back in the old days (50s-60s) KIDS did the jobs that illegals are taking now. Washed dishes, did yards, etc. And those kids grew up with some WORK values. Today we don't let our kids do a damn thing except watch TV and play video games. Put the kids to work! They work cheap and if jobs are not available to illegals maybe they'll stay home.
