Going Back to work Tomorrow - and a story!

Got cleared by the orthopedic today to go back to work tomorrow. My shoulder now has full range of motion, and I've gotten much of the strength back. It still hurts more than it should (well really, it shouldn't hurt at all...), so my doc is having me get an MRI just to make sure there's nothing going on there. He also is having me start physical therapy - I begin next Thursday with the guy I went to for 5 months earlier this year for my back/knees. The ortho wasn't sure about me going back to work all out, but my job has no light duty or anything. I, too, am a little nervous about it, but I won't know if my shoulder will hold up unless I try. So tomorrow's the day. I have a 12 hour shift tomorrow and Friday.
I went to my first NICU (SCBU for those not in the US) memorial Sunday. It was really something - I did blog about it, which allowed me to really share the whole thing. We remembered 65 babies who had died in the past 3 years from our nursery. 26 had died since I started working there, and 11 were babies I had personally taken care of at some point. I think the greatest thing was having one of my favorite families there! They'd had twin daughters, and one did die - this was from a rare condition called twin to twin transfusion syndrome. The surviving twin is now 7 months old and is doing beautifully! That really made my day - it was great to be able to see her smiling and starting baby talk. That was my first NICU memorial, and I really was glad to have been able to go to that.
Today as I was leaving the hospital, a rather interesting incident happened! I was stuck in bumper to bumper traffic just right by the hospital during rush hour. I had briefly called my mom to let her know the results of the ortho stuff and that I was on my way home. I'm not one to talk on the phone while driving, but really I was going nowhere fast. Of course ,the woman in front of me kept leaving about 30 feet in front of her, letting all the cars out of the parking garages, and causing us to sit through light after light without going very far at all. At one point, I didn't feel like missing yet one more light, so I just very lightly tapped the horn. Of course, I was right behind her because we were stuck in the bumper to bumper traffic. I could never have expected what she did next...
This woman got out of her car - she was actually dressed like she had just come from a business office - skirt, blouse, blazer on. She came barrelling at my car, arms flailing, and screamed, "GET OFF MY ASS!! HANG UP THAT CELL PHONE AND GET OFF MY ASS. YOU AIN'T THAT GOOD B****!!! YOU B****!" She was really waving her arms everywhere and only about 6 inches from my car door.
I resisted the temptation to react in any way. Inside, I would have liked to fling open the car door and send her flying. I didn't ram my car into hers to really give her something to flip about. I didn't yell back... Frankly, I think she's lucky I didn't have a gun or wasn't some other person besides myself - you never know what people will do - especially in the city! I did tell my mom, "I've gotta go" - hung up the phone and continued staring straight ahead. Eventually she got back in her car and began driving. The whole thing really scared me, but more than that - made me angry! Sure, people dont' like it when others are on the cell phone, but I hadn't done anything that was wrong in bumper to bumper traffic - did she expect me to stay an entire block behind her while we were going 10mph? It really took me for a shock!
At any rate - just thought it was a rather startling story. I'm glad to go back to work tomorrow. For me, in CH news - the NP at the headache center is looking into whether or not she can prescribe liquid oxygen with the O2 company we work at. I tried it when at Helen's, and it was a big help to be able to have such a supply without having to refill constantly. If I can get this, I'll gladly share what she had to do in case anyone else is interested! Getting hit 4-5x/day at the moment...seems a fall thing for me. If I take Frova or Amerge, I can keep them away for several hours at a time, but I can't do that every day. I'm glad O2 works for me at least.
