What made you happy today?

I thought that we'd need to see some happy things in here! Now, let's see, what made me happy today... Well, I did see two beautiful birds, next to my window. According to my dictionary their species were called great tit in English. (is it just me, or is the name funny??? ) And secondly, it's always great to hear my best supporter's voice... It was nice of him to call me. So far no hits today, that's always a happy thing! Now, how about you guys? PF days to all, Sanna

Looks to be similar to our chickadees and tufted titmouse (I know....I know....the name). Aren't these the guys who learned how to take the tops off of containers of cream? Interesting example of cultural learning in birds--when the milkman would leave bottles of cream on front steps in Britain, some of these birds learned to peck through the foil tops to drink the cream. After a few years, the birds were doing it all over Britain. Now, of course, there probably aren't many milkmen, and containers of cream are likely in cardboard cartons, so I doubt that they're doing it anymore. What made me happy? A sunny, beautiful autumn day here--hard to be morose when it's so splendid outside. Best, George

Could it be the call I got when I arrived at my office that an employee cut his finger and had to have stitches last night and now I have an hours worth of paperwork to fill out? Maybe! Or could it be the hour and a half I spent with an investigator regarding an injury that happened a few weeks ago? Nope!.........I guess it's up to you clusterheads to make me happy today!

Receiving an IM hug from one CHer to cheer me up after an extra tough day at work and another IM from a second CHer who is a wonderful friend. Going for a long walk in a few minutes with my dogs on a beautiful, sunny warm day knowing there is a nice ice cold Heineken waiting for me when I get back.

| Actually milkmen still leave milk in bottles and the little buggers know which houses (like mine!) get milk delivered! I've just restarted again as I always stop through the summer as I don't like rancid milk - fussy aren't I?! Whats made me happy today? Talking to friends and knowing I'm loved

| Patti, Is that a Woolybear??? When I lived in Vermilion, Ohio, every fall we had the Woolybear festival and every spring we had the Fish Festival. I loved those cute little fuzzy creatures!! I absolutely hate bugs, but I would pick those up and carry them around! They were cute! What made me happy today....let's see..... 1. Bright sunny day 2. Catching the train on time, even though I left late! 3. Finally getting my pain meds filled after spending most of last night in the ER for severe shoulder pain and muscle spasms 4. Happiness that my ortho will be able to see me tomorrow, and not a month from now - which often happens, even though I spent the night in the ER and have my arm in a sling! 5. Getting copies of my xrays and ER chart immediately just by sharing what happened! 6. Finally getting the sling adjusted right so that my elbow was resting in the sling and not relying on the pressure in my wrist, which was really hurting!! 7. Last night, what made me happy was having my friend Sean, a 2nd year OB resident, come and talk to me for about 15 minutes while in the ER, even though he was having a very busy night float night - and also for still being happy to hear from me at 1:30am when I finally got home! 8. Eating pumpkin cookies I made the other day! 9. Finding some cute postcards and Philadelphia souvenirs to send over the pond to a certain friend and her 3 children! 10. New carpet in the apartment building! 11. Opening my front door and seeing my kitty curled up in the little wicker basket bed I bought him awhile ago, that he has only recently started lying in! I could go on...but I think that's good for now! In spite of it all, I try to remind myself of the things that make me happy every day...helps to get through everything else!
