Student loans and legal stuff

(First time ever on a forum, hope this works) Hi! I’m one in the "club" and I recently came across this webpage which was interesting for me since I never heard of someone with CH before (except myself of course). I guess that I’m rather lucky since I haven’t experienced hell since year 1991, thank god for that. (Only 2-3 on the KIP-scale sometimes, not very often, compared to 10 every single time during four looong periods 1981-1991) I’m writing to ask sufferers around the world if anyone has got their student-loan called of and here is the background in a compressed form: •I had to finance my suffering with my student-loan. Suffering started at my first year at university. •Doctor’s didn’t understand why my head hurt and sent me home with 5 aspirins... •The government/state can call of the student-loan if special circumstances have been at hand. •I recently appealed to the court that handles student-loans and the said: OK you were sick, what about it? We are not calling of the loan! •For me its not just economy (although, I’m not a billionaire) but also principle. I was sick in a country that prides itself with healthcare for everybody who needs it but I didn’t get any help. •My goal is to create a prejudicate (in my language a standard legal guideline) that says that CH is not exactly common and that students shouldn’t be held responsible to pay back student-loan if CH hits them while studying. So now everybody with CH all around the world: have anyone heard of anyone that has got their student-loan called of because of CH? (Or similar situation) The court holds my hearing/appeal until the end of this month and I have no idea of how to convince them that CH isnt exactly trivial so I would be most grateful for answers. I would like to end this letter with best wishes to all that has a reason to be on this page and hope that you, as me, get rid of the worst pain. Never quit, never surrender! I’m most easily reached at charlie.jones81@gmail.com Bye Charlie

Repay your loan. It's the right thing to do whether you have CH or not.

So now instead of being a CH sufferer you want to be a deadbeat CH sufferer. PAY YOUR FUCKING LOAN and quit using CH as an excuse for not being accountable. That kind of publicity we dont need.

If you're sick and you can't fulfill your school obligations, you withdraw. Re-enroll when you're better. That's the way the real world works. If you didn't figure that out and stayed in school while you were "disabled," it sucks to be you. This is another in the long list of "everything I need to know I learned in kindergarten." When I borrow something, I give it back. Next.

Charlie, This is just wrong! As chewy said, "this kind of publicity we don't need". Why would you think any clusterhead would want to be associated with slipping a 15 year old debt because they had CH back then? I am absolutely astounded that anyone could justify this. Please rethink this and don't put the board through this crap. People know so little about CH, the worst thing I can imagine is THIS being their introduction. It will hurt us all. Jon

Did you pay the rest of your bills while you were "sick" or did you try to get out of those too? You must have paid your grocery bill cuz ya didn't starve to death as evident by your post.Suck it up & do what's right...PAY YOUR BILL. Shari

Finally a Swede. I am by ancestry. The other thing is that my last real hit was 1991 too. I can't relate to student loans but it would seem to me that it will be hard if you aren't hurting anyway. I'm almost even with my creditors. I keep in touch and they have been willing to let me get around the bills in small increments. It's a pain but I'm an old fart and can't stand owing money. It's good to meet you though. Charlie

In the US, you can easily get a hardship deferrment on your student loan(s), with pretty much any medical condition -- but you can't get them to go away altogether. Interest still accrues, but you get 6 months that they excuse your monthly payment. Hope you have something like that over there. -Brad
