Finnish CH lecture

Last Monday neurologist Aki Hietaharju helled a lecture about ch at Tampere. My schedules prevented me to attend the lecture in person, but I emailed Mr Hietaharju and he was kind enough to email me his whole lecture. Now, I'm no ch expert, but there was very little new about ch at the lecture. It was mostly the basics; what is ch all about, etc. Finland's Migraine Assosiation (yup, all the ch folks in here belong to this organization because ch sufferers does not have their own) had promoted the lecture as a "top lecture, worth travelling from far and wide" and hinted that there would be some new info about ch research and treatments. Well, that something new to me was these meds: Sandostatin (abortative) Naramig (preventative) Baclon (preventative) Capsaicin (preventative) Still, it was fantastic that there were a lecture about ch. That's not common back in here. And finally the Assosiation has acknowledged that there's also ch sufferers in it membership: one can now download specific headache diary, which is designed for us clusterheads! PF days to us all, Sanna

That's awesome! Never heard of any of it (except Capsaisan - wondering how the 'prevent' is administered) but just the fact it is being acknowledged and addressed is a BONUS!!! Peace, Carl D

Carl, apparently capsaicin is a med you take via nose. There has been talk in here about using chili powder... I suppose some docs believe that it can be a useful med.

| I know. I was wondering if maybe they had a new method or form or something. I know some tried using the cream on their temples. Chili powder? Hmmm. I wonder if you can use cayenne pepper? My eyes water at the thought.

I just recall the old conversations about chili powder. Not recommended... That med is based on the same thing, I suppose - if the powder helped some, this will help some as well. Personally I would not run to get it - the nose meds have been useless with my head before.

I hate putting ANYTHING in my nose. Irritates the hell out of me. Trex nasal spray is the only thing that goes in my nose besides a rubber hose. Oh shit. That was a 'Welcome Back Kotter' moment I just had. Sleep dep has taken my brain to memory lane. All I ask is this... if I start singing or quoting ANY Vanilla Ice, please someone have mercy on me and put me out of my misery!

| I'm sure that it can be arranged, so no worries! It just will need someone other than me to recognize those Vanilla Ice quotes...

| Were I to utter any words to "Ice Ice Baby" in front of my friends I'd either a) have the shit beat out of me b) get rushed to a mental hospital or c) get urinated on! I'd rather listen to Abba! Sure, Abba makes me suicidal - but Vanilla Ice just pushes me over that edge completely. If it is within earshot of me I must sing something like "Nazi Punks Fuck Off" by Dead Kennedys just to level the karma coming at me.
