Just some thoughts here - Not to start a fight...

No political debate is intended.  Just some thoughts that are interesing to read;

Regardless of your political views, this certainly gives us all food for thought. Sen. Glenn was so quick on his feet.

When you speak from the heart and with passion, you never know what comes out.

SENATOR JOHN GLENN SAID:

Things that make you think a little.......

1. There were 39 combat related killings in Iraq during the month of January....

In the fair city of Detroit there were 35 murders in the month of January.

That's just one American City ,about as deadly as
the entire war torn country of Iraq.

2 When some claim President Bush shouldn't have started this war,state the following;

FDR...led us into World War II. Germany never attacked us: Japan did.

From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost, an average of 112,500 per year.

Truman...finished that war and started one in Korea , North Korea never attacked us.

From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost, an average of 18,334 per year.

John F. Kennedy....started the Vietnam conflict in 1962. Vietnam never attacked us.

Johnson...turned Vietnam into a quagmire. From 1965-1975, 58,000 lives were lost, an average of 5,800 per year.

Clinton...went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent, Bosnia never attacked us.

He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter three times by Sudan and did nothing.

Osama has attacked us on multiple occasions.

3. In the two years since terrorists attacked us
President Bush has liberated two countries,

Crushed the Taliban,

Crippled al-Qaida,

Put nuclear inspectors in Libya, Iran and North Korea, without firing a shot, and captured a terrorist who slaughtered 300,000 of his own people.

The Democrats are complaining about how long the war is taking, but...It took less time to take Iraq than it took Janet Reno to take the Branch Davidian compound. That was a 51-day operation.

We've been looking for evidence of chemical weapons in Iraq for less time than it took Hillary Clinton to find the Rose Law Firm billing records.

It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Division and the Marines to destroy the Medina Republican Guard than it took Ted Kennedy to call the Police after his Oldsmobile sank at Chappaquiddick,  illing a woman.

Wait, there's more......................

Some people still don't understand why military personnel do what they do for a living. This exchange between Senators John Glenn and Senator Howard Metzenbaum is worth reading. Not only is it a pretty impressive, impromptu speech, but it's also a good example of one man's explanation of why men and women in the armed services do what they do for a living.

This is a typical, though sad, example of what some who have never served think of our military.

JOHN GLENN ON THE SENATE FLOOR Date: Mon, 26 Jan 2004

Senator Howard Metzenbaum to Senator Glenn: "How can you run for
Senate when you've never held a real job?"

Senator Glenn: "I served 23 years in the United States Marine Corps.
I served through two wars.
I flew 149 missions. My plane was hit by antiaircraft fire on 12
different occasions. I was in the space program.

It wasn't my checkbook, Howard; it was my life on the
line. It was not a nine-to-five job, where I took time off to take
the daily cash receipts to the bank. I ask you to go with me .. as I
went the other day... to a veteran's hospital and look those men -
with their mangled bodies - in the eye, and tell THEM they didn't
hold a job! You go with me to the Space Program at NASA and go, as I have
gone, to the widows and orphans of Ed White, Gus Grissom and Roger
Chaffee... and you look those kids in the eye and tell them that
their Dads didn't hold a job.

You go with me on Memorial Day and you stand in
Arlington National Cemetery , where I have more friends buried than
I'd like to remember, and you watch those waving flags.
You stand there, and you think about this nation, and
you tell ME that those people didn't have a job? I'll tell you,
Howard Metzenbaum; you should be on your knees every day of your life
thanking God that there were some men - SOME MEN - who held REAL
jobs. And they required a dedication to a purpose - and a love of country and a
dedication to duty that was more important than life itself. And
their self-sacrifice is what made this country possible.>>

I HAVE held a job, Howard! What about you?"

For those who don't remember - During W.W.II, Howard
Metzenbaum was an attorney representing the Communist Party in the
USA.

If you can read this, thank a teacher....

If you are reading it in English, thank a Veteran.

You have most of the context correct, but the date is wrong...the quote was from the 1974 Senate Race, not 2004.

He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter three times by Sudan and did nothing.  Bullshit

Osama has attacked us on multiple occasions. and Bush doesnt really think about him much because he isnt that concerned with him
3. In the two years since terrorists attacked us
President Bush has liberated two countries,

Crushed the Taliban, and forced them into selling huge amounts of opium
Crippled al-Qaida,

Put nuclear inspectors in Libya, Iran and North Korea, without firing a shot, and captured a terrorist who slaughtered 300,000 of his own people.  Libya invited the inspectors in for money.  N Korea and Iran are laughing at what a joke Bush is and are actively trying to make nuclear weapons.  N Korea even fired test missiles and Bush didnt do anything at all.  N. Korea has more nuke weapons now than they did in 2001.

The Democrats are complaining about how long the war is taking, but...It took less time to take Iraq than it took Janet Reno to take the Branch Davidian compound. That was a 51-day operation.  If i am doing my math correctly, March,2003 to present is a lot more than 51 days.  If Janet Reno went on TV and said Mission Accomplished before the standoff got started, she would be considered as much of a dumb ass as Bush.
We've been looking for evidence of chemical weapons in Iraq for less time than it took Hillary Clinton to find the Rose Law Firm billing records.  No, we stopped looking long ago.

Well, seeing as how iraq was not a threat at all to America or it's citizens, I think the USA should use it's resources to fuck up countries that are threats.
For example, N Korea has nukes and says they want to use them against the USA and it's allies.  We should do something about that.
Iran is trying to make nukes and are completely open about it.  They have said once they get nukes they will use them against Isreal and American forces.  We should do something about that.
Osama Bin Laden attacked the USA and caused much death and destruction.  In my opinion, even if it is just for pride, we should commit every resource we have to finding that fucker and killing him.  If countries like Pakistan or Syria want to get in our way, they get crushed with no questions asked.

At the height of the Afganistan war, the USA had like 35k troops there.  In Iraq, we have had 150k troops.  In my opinion, that shit is backwards.  The USA is spending more resources in Iraq for Iraqis than we are spending on the war on terror for americans.

thats fuckin sad.

Iraq broke every agreement of the cease fire, but you refuse to see that through your hate of Bush.

We should have prioritized.  Situations like Iraq that are not a threat should only be taken care of AFTER situations like crazy fuckers with nukes that are testing missiles that theoretically can make it to the USA.

Dudes firing prehistoric projectiles at our advanced fighter jets - low priority.
Crazy dudes with nukes testing delivery systems that can make it to the USA - High priority
Fucker orders planes flown into buildings and kills 3000 Americans - High priority

You refuse to prioritize because of your love for Bush.

Oh, you didnt know that?  Yeah, they have been trying to get nukes for like 15 years now.  Yes, they had nukes.  They werent testing missiles back then, but Bush said they had better not, or else.

So, then they tested them and Bush did nothing at all, except give a press conference.  Bush said it would be considered an act of war, but then he didnt do anything.

At all.

Shameful.  Cowardly inactions like that just embolden the enemy.

It is up to YOU to educate yourself and then help your doctor plan your treatment. If you just sit down in front of your doctor and say "make me better" you are setting yourself up for a great deal of pain.

Think of how stupid the average person is, and then realize half the population is stupider than that.

IMO

Doing what we say we will do does help with the other problems.  It took too long to step on Iraq since they were unwilling to allow the UN into their country to look at different sites to make sure they had no WMDs.  Looked pretty fishy.  If nothing else it had to be done for credibility.  Kinda like your kids, if you tell them and tell them to stop and do nothing about it they laugh and make faces behind your back.
Also, if an Iraqi ran country can work in the middle east it shows others the possibilities........Wouldn't it be amazing to have no tyrants in power?
