An Energy Drink Tasting

Today we assembled our panel of three judges to assess the flavor and drinkability of four Energy Drinks containing taurine. Please remember that these results are simply the opinions of our judges alone, and have not been solicited by the companies producing these drinks, nor are the results meant to advocate the use of these drinks for any purpose whatsoever, and so forth and so on and the usual legal disclaimers, yada, yada. Ready? 1.) Red Bull Judge #1: "The nose is redolent of decayed daisies. In the glass, the radioactive greenish hue is anything but attractive. The upfront impression of Red Bull is one of quinine mixed with toadstools. Tepidly effervescent, it has a finish that grows on you--like mold." Judge #2: "I don't like it. I don't like it at all." Judge #3: "It sux, but I kinda like it." 2.) Sobe No Fear: Judge #1: "Although grape juice is listed as one of the primary ingredients, anything farther from a decent wine is difficult to imagine. It's very, very sweet, and the immediate impression is one of passion fruit, oddly infused with petroleum. Quite a hearty effervescence. A bizarre, fizzy pop of an energy drink." Judge #2: "I don't like this one either, but I hate it less than the first one." Judge #3: "I could actually drink this." 3.) Rockstar: Judge #1: "This is by far the worst of the one's we've tasted. It'll take months to get the taste out of my mouth. It's almost flat, and there's a horrible, bitter pruny quality to it that's ghastly, and frankly indescribable." Judge #2: "Are you sure this isn't synthetic motor oil?" Judge #3: "Sux HUGE. Gag me." 4.) Monster Judge #1: "Has a sour/bitter quality that isn't half bad. Although it's the color of an alien space ship, it's pretty drinkable. Nice effervescence, and a clean finish." Judge #2: "Not too bad for an energy drink." Judge #3: "I'm going to switch to this." So--the results of our unscientific and highly subjective tasting seems to indicate that Monster is the most palatable of these particular products. Let us know what you think. Your mileage may vary. Best wishes, George

You need to try AMP, it is pretty good. That being said, I switched to Monster about 4 months ago and have now gone back to Red Bull. You have to change it up once in a while to keep from getting bored!

| Bro, now I know you are nuts. Why on earth would you drink Irish whiskey when there is Kentucky (Tennessee) burboun? Makers Mark all the way. B$

I like Red Bull, but I love Red Devil (oh the irony...). I have tried also Spun, Ed,Big One, Crock and PowerKing. Red Devil tastes great and different, the rest are just rip offs from RB. Sanna

| Now Moneyman, if you gonna talk about Makers Mark, you gotta know 1. How to spell bourbon and 2. That no way could Tennessee come up with that formula. It comes from Loretto, Ky. We be proud of out bourbon.

I'm just fine with Newport Bay Coffee Co. Gnarly Boy Coffee. which has more caffine then the law would allow. Jim Beam or Makers Mark the rest of the time. Or with it for that matter. Energy drinks just plain suk.
