Just saw this article.  Zomig isn't new but to see an article about CH is kind of rare.

Quote:
In the new study, researchers tested the spray on 92 patients, 80 of whom were men, the gender most likely to get cluster headaches. Because some patients dropped out of the study or did not have enough headaches during the study period, 69 patients were included in the final analysis.

The researchers randomly assigned the participants to be treated with a placebo, 5 milligrams of the nasal spray, or 10 milligrams when their headaches occurred. They were then checked several times over a half-hour period. If the headaches didn't get better after that time, the patients were allowed to try another treatment.

This study is identical to the one in which some MilCon attendees participated.  Hopefully with the results of this study Zomig can be listed officially as a treatment for cluster headaches.

Quote:
Goadsby said the nasal spray is easy to use, and publicity about the research should both raise the profile of cluster headaches -- which often aren't diagnosed -- and help improve treatment.

This is GREAT news.  Grin

Been seeing more articles generally about clusters lately.

And this turned up today on nature.com, about the clusterbuster study by Drs. Sewell and Halpern:

And around the world. This from a website in India:

LSD may help cure cluster headaches

London, Sept15: The Beatles made a bold statement in the 60s by singing ‘Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds’, which was at that time believed to be a front for hallucinatory experiences after consuming LSD.

And now, over 40 years later, scientists have found that the taboo drug may actually have some benefits, in that they may help abort cluster headaches.

The study was partly funded by MAPS (Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies), a non-profit alliance of scientists and campaigners that funds research into the therapeutic benefits of psychoactive drugs and lobbies for changes in US law.

Just curious how much $$$$ MAPS kicked in?
