No sleep

This sucks. The insomnia is once again getting out of hand. I do know though what is causing alot of it. My leg, when it craps out like this, hurts like unholy hell!!! In the event I get any relief from it or even doze of for about an hour or more, the beast wakes me right back up. I'm not getting hit frequent with CH's, but when I do they are full-blown 8-10's that don't want to abort and leave my head ringing afterwards.

The lack of sleep caught up with me last year, and my immune system dropped massive and the final conclusion was: sleep deprivation weakening immune system during bouts of insomnia. They prescribed me a bunch of different sleep meds which did nothing, and then the stuff that DID work isn't covered by my insurance!  Angry I guess sleep just isn't that important or is overrated. In any case, I have to wait until I am about sick to fall alseep, and then hope for sleep. in one week I had a whopping total of 10/ 1/2 hours sleep since.
Sorry, but I have been down alot lately due to shit being out of control here, and I'm busting my ass trying to stay afloat. I'm stressed, tired, bummed, stressed, exhausted, etc. I'll stop for now. I just keep hoping something breaks soon. The shit gets old like, quick.

Just pissed and venting,

Sorry Carl.

Damn stress doesn't make things easier. I know.

One of these times, your body will just shut down for a time for some shuteye. Self preservation.... but still that is doing things the hard way.

Hang on Carl

Sorry CD,  Sucks not being able to sleep.  I go through weeks of it.  I guess I have adapted to it because I get by.  My commute driving is a real challenge though.  I know each bump in the road and kind of know where I am because of them.  I set the cruise controll 2.5 mph lower than the speed limit to keep from rear ending someone on the highway when I sleep-drive.

Try taking 9 mg. Mealtonin 20 minutes before bed.  It helps the sleep challenged.

Yeah and the more ya got on yer mind the worse the sleep thing gets.....vicious cycle. Then ya get burnt out and worried and then if ya start loosein it and shit goes to hell ya got that big worry about keepin your job and all........and it goes from there. Too bad ya can't stop shit in it's tracks.......my insomnia definetly comes in fazes and when alot of shit goes wrong it gets worse and I start havein NITEMARES again for a while and it's all Steven King dreams ! I just got over a bad faze with insomnia where even with sleep meds I would fall asleep for an hour and WHAM I was wide awake......would fineally fall asleep again and do that over and over and over all nite long to where I was exhausted by morning. Then it seems the aches and pains get worse.......that all flares up worse then it's normal chronic self. What goes around comes around Pam

Try to keep things flowing if ya can with the job and all cuz looseing finances and apartment and or threats or worries of it will only make all this worse. There really IS no SURE FIRE answer.......there could only be a CURE ! Hang in there !!!!!!

Hang in there, Carl--it WILL get better.  Insomnia's always been my curse as well, in cycle and out.  Clusters suck, but going without sleep just makes it worse.

What's up with that?  Long ago, I remember being able to sleep blissfully and carelessly for as long as I liked.  After the CH started, I entered my present pattern of sleeping little and restlessly, and it hasn't changed since.  Of course, I was just a boy when the CH started, and children sleep easily, but still....

I don't know whether there's a nasty symbiosis between CH and insomnia, or whether the nighttime CH hits just made me gunshy of sleeping.  Could be that, I suppose.  After all--if something blasts you with the worst pain you've ever felt when you do a particular thing, there's a natural tendency to avoid it, I think.  Sorta Pavlovian, maybe.

My best to you, my friend.  Hope things settle out for you soon.

I know exactly what it feels like to be sleep deprived. It sucks! Doc gives me some Valiums ... but this new drug (Rozerem) really keeps me asleep. Even if I do get awaken by the beast, I can fall back asleep soon after a 'jab'. With the new med, I'm definately getting more sleep time.

I hear ya!  My family and I are living with Sam's mom and her fiance (of 7yrs)  Trying to quietly get up, go down a steep flight of wood stairs ... out to the porch to pace or rock quietly without waking anyone up is HARD!  THey work 2nd shift so I'm trying extra hard to be considerate of that.  Big hugs fellow insomniacs I feel your pain! Inspite of melatonin and benadryl I've been waking up every hour or so for a couple of weeks-not CH pain-but congested, teary eyed and sweating like a "stuck pig" (whatever that means).  Today I was suppossed to drive to Sacramento to see my VA neuro.  Have been up constantly since 1:45 am-(it's 8:50 here now)no way am I gonna do the drive.  They have a shuttle from here to there but ya can't use it if your appointment is after 2p.m.  All neuro appoints are on Monday beginning at 1.  guess when my reschedule is?  Dec 11-and that's for later-so will have to find a ride or someone to go with me just in case...next available appt that meets shuttle requirements....next year.
I might break my cardinal rule of no naps today-I am totally wiped out.
PFDAN and sleep to y'all

Hey what's that new med Rozerem like....what is it....is it similar to the ambien med ? Jus wonder'd cuz it mite be sumthin Carl can check into and I mite ask my doc about it next visit comeing up. But if it is new I suppose it is just as expensive as the others ? With ins I pay about 80 bucks for 30 of the ambien.....holly crap !!! I take a half one to stretch it out. Tried the ambien cr and it took to long to work and I woke up with a 'hangover' and could not shake it....I was so dopey in the morning I was a hazard. So no thanks to that kinda stuff for me....ruin'd most of my day too. The ambien cr cost MORE also. The doc and pharmacy said the NEW STUFF is big bucks till they make there MILLIONS then sell the patent or whatever in 3 years or so. I fall asleep then JERK awake constantly till I am wired about about the 3rd or 4th time.....then it is no sleep after that. I get a stab in the chest too which is I think some sort of panic attack screw up.....as if I was tryin to fall asleep in the woods near a pack of hungry wolves protective mechanism. Anyone else get that ? I wake up soakin wet too alot but that has slowed down sum....I jus switch one bad symtom for anouther anyhow. I sleep BEST after around 7:30 am which doesn't always work or fly but I suppose I am TIRED from no sleep and all nite worry worry rest. I have alot of dreams in the morning. Dreamt I had it OUT with the inlaws and we no longer talked and poor Brad had to sort it out......dam was that ever real tho......they were mean to me Pam

Didn't mean to hyjack this thread.....hope I didn't....I kept it in the sleep catagory talk and maybe suma the meds mentiond would help Carl ? Valium and the likes will only let me fall asleep for maybe one half hour or so then I am WIDE AWAKE tired.

Here is a trick to try if you can't get a full nights sleep. Find out how long it takes for the beast to wake you up. For me its around an hour and 20 min. Set your alarm clock for 45 min, when it goes off, walk around the house for a min, and have a smoke. Reset your alarm and do it again, and again, and again. You won't get as much sleep as a normal night, but you can knock off a couple of the wake me up hits and still get enough sleep to make it through the day.
