The Beast Shook Me Awake For the 1st Time

Hi everyone,
Well its 4:19am and I am on the computer......I have to be up in an hour and a half and I have CH right now.  Im still a NOOB so I am still a little in the dark (or not) about the patterns of these things.  I just have 2 small questions about it:
1; All of my CHs have been at 12 noon and lasted an hour, why is this cycle changing now?  Ending?  Getting Worse?
2. Is tylenol PM worth anything to take as a sleep aid?  It is the only one I can really take.

Thanks again for having a place where I can listen and learn from you guys.  It really helps.
Lets all be PF the rest of today RIGHT??????

Hiya Nick,

The best advice I could offer is trying melatonin 6-9 mg. prior to attempting to go to sleep.
I am not a doctor so advice comes with that disclaimer yet........many of us have found that mealtonin will prevent nocturnal hits from coming.

"Middle-of-the-night" cluster headaches are  a very typical symptom and help identify these over other types of head pain.

Check out the menu at the left for tons of info and lots of help experienced and recorded by thousands of us clusterheads.

Sorry that you have to go through this...sorry that anyone has to.

Oh, the "Beast"!  I thought that you wrote the "Breast".  Well, that might be something to try to help with CH pain if you're a guy-it's worked for me from time to time.  Uh-oh, did I just post something sexist?

Rats. Sorry the beast has shown up in the wee hours too.

He struck me twice every night, rarely three times. Like so many here, he hit me about 90 minutes into sleep. He always got me once more in the middle of the night.

Forget pain pills. Nothing works and rarely in time anyway.

Keep ranting. It helps to have a place where you know you won't be told to go to bed.

The ones that wake me out of sleep are devestating. There is NO WAY I could be on the computer. More like injecting meds & writhing in pain.  Undecided  It's a total consumption of pain.

I'd have to say no to the Tylenol PM...

Melatonin....like Edub, says.    Smiley

99% of my hits occur 1 1/2 to 2 hours after I go to sleep.   I have had very few daytime hits.

Have you ever used 02?    If not, then you might put that on your wish list for when you see your Doc again.

Best of luck to ya...I see you're in Dallas...I'm about 4 hours south...in Houston.    Nice to meet 'ya!

The night time is the right time.

This nightmare's been shaking me from my sleep since forever.  Enjoys tearing in to me several times a night and throws in just a few daylight hits just to keep me off balance.

9mg Melatonin cut into it's playtime, eliminated 1 to 2 night hits during months with high activity.

Give it a week or two to show some results if you try it.

Best wishes,

Tom

Ninety percent or more of the hits I get occur an hour and a half after I fall asleep, in the first REM cycle of the night.  I get very few hits in the daytime, those mostly in the center of a cycle--although I haven't gotten any daytime hits at all in the last couple of cycles.

Melatonin (9 mg in cycle) seems to reduce the number of hits I get at night.  Good stuff, and I concur with what the others have said.  I also take magnesium and calcium supplements--they seem to help as well.  I don't medicate otherwise.

Sorry you're starting to get nailed at night.  One of the worst aspects of them, at least to me, is the sleep deprivation.  My hits are long and dirty, and I often end up seeing the sun rise from the wrong side--grizzled, red-eyed and horrid.

Best wishes,

George

And their harlequin eyes.
The pain they inspire
Draws in harmonica melodies
And the feathers of birds
Which flame up at their touch.
It all comes to light in the sheer
Debonair.
