A 4th grade social studies teacher is telling her students one day, "Only human beings have the capacity to stutter. Animals do not stutter." Suddeenly one of the students jumped up raising his hand. "That's not true!" "Oh really?" Asks the teacher. "Why do you say that?" "Because" the kid says excitedly, "I once had a kitty cat who was the coolest, but one day this HUGE dog came up and my cat said, 'ffff...fffff....fffff...fffff....' but before he could say fuck the dog ate him!"

How times have changed! When I was about 7 years old I learned a new word and came home from school and proudly told my mother "fuck"! She calmly called me over, told me to stick my tongue out and then put about a teaspoon full of powdered cayenne pepper on my tongue and told me that she never wanted to hear me use such language again (today I could have had her arrested for child abuse and various other felony charges, but it happened in the 50's, so there was nothing that I could do except rinse my mouth out and cry for the next hour). I never cursed in front of my parents or other "old people" again...they are both dead now, but I learned a lesson about respect which was well worth the brief moment of pain. From then on, all of my cursing ended as soon as I entered the front door of our apartment. Ah, the good old days!

Ah! The foreigners put on such airs Wearing the tangerine suits And their harlequin eyes. The pain they inspire Draws in harmonica melodies And the feathers of birds Which flame up at their touch. It all comes to light in the sheer Debonair. (Ellen)
