Cluster Headaches Switching Sides??
« on: Aug 28th, 2006, 11:26am »

I started my cycle a week and a half ago and for the first time i can remeber in years one day my CH swithced sides from left side for one attack and then right side for evening attacks however the pain on the right side was a little dull.

Has anyone experienced this before?
I can only recall one other time this happened to me and thats when i was about 15 or so.

enjoy the ping pong.
It has happened quite a few times.

You might want to move this over to Cluster specific as well so that more replies may come your way.

This is pretty much the general everyday laughs and vents section.

Be well

It has happened to me too.

Not as severe when on the wrong side but they have moved to the other side once in a while.

I remember years ago, I couldn't find anyone else this happened to.
Back in '95, after having them right-side-only for 8 years, they switched to the left while I lived in MI and I asked my neuro at MHNI wtf was going on. Since then, I will occasionally get them on the left, but the ones on the left have never gone past Kip 7-8. However, there have been times when I'd get a mild hit on the left, only to be followed up with a major hit on the right.

What is real fun is getting hit on both sides at once. This has only happened to me a few times, and it was since going chronic in '98. Just feels like the sides of your head are caught in a vice that is closing and your eyeballs are about to pop out.  Shocked

Hope you get a break soon.
Peace,
Carl D

Mine rarely switch sides, but it has happened, but never in the middle of a cycle, that I can remember.

Always the left side, without exception.

Spent ten years as an episodic rightie.  A couple of years after I beacame chronic things began looking up.  Only shadows ( KIP 2 &3, sorry still learning the scale) on the right and then the shadows began on the left.  They quickly escalated into KIP 10.  Things began to cool off and then back on the right.

In the past 14 years it has hapened that way many times, but never both sides at once.  A major blessing!!! I think that would put me totally over the edge.

26 years as a lefty hitter .. The last 6 chronic ...  Now for the last year or so, I have been a switch hitter .. I never know what side it will hit on .. Some times it bounces from one side to the other, one right after another.  I no sooner finish the hit on one side, and then the other side starts up.  That one finishes, and the other side hits again.  I have gone for several hours, getting hit one side, and then the other, and then back and forth ...  Ya want to know pure hell, hunny, that is it!!!

And then there are the times that I get hit on both sides at once.  I won't even go into that.  I am sure you can imagine it.

According to the cluster specialist that I spoke to when I visited the Crazy Viking, in Norway, last year, he said it is not that uncommon.  He told me that he had several clusterhead patients who had it happen.

It is not common, but it does happen the us "lucky" ones.

Hey, like the rest of us, it is the hand I was dealt with. I just deal with it.  And so would you, if (God forbid) it happens to you, you will deal with it too.

Uh... Chuck?

I would beg to differ with anyone who says getting hit on boths sides at once isn't that uncommon.
In all of the years I have been on this MB, you are the ONLY other person I have ever seen post about getting hit on both sides at once. When I posted about it years ago, people scoffed and said that it wasn't posible. I told my sis in law that a double hit feels like what one of those little plastice heads look like when you squeeze the head and the eyes pop out.  Shocked

And if that is luck... it is shit luck.

Peace,
Carl
