He will be on 60 Minutes this Sunday....story on New Orleans----When he is pressed by the interviewer about why so many cars are still abandoned...The good Mayor responds with..." Hey you guys have a hole in New York City , and they haven't fixed it yet..." ,,,What an as*hole---he must be impeached-NOW.

His actual quote: "That’s alright. You guys in New York can’t get a hole in the ground fixed and it’s five years later. So let’s be fair.".

A lot of politicians screwed up in response to the Hurricane...New Orleans residents need to decide on their mayor.

He was just re-elected by people who aren't living there and have no intentions of going back there to live.  Makes me wonder how many dead folks voted?

Mayor Nagin is just about the ONLY politician that speaks his mind.  He has a good point, when it comes to getting shit done, state and federal government are about the slowest and worst.

Nagin for president!!!!!

I love that guy.  He is a breath of fresh air in a sea of corruptness and ineptitude.

Excepting of course that he has absolutely no balls to take the reigns himself and get it done. Easy to blame everyone else.

Whatever. One need only remember the pictures of hundreds of school buses up to their windows in water to realize how much of that ineptitude was his.

Please allow me, on behalf of the good people of New Orleans and surrounding Parishes, my most humble apology.

I don't know what is worse...the storm, which we had no control over or this idiot by the choice of the enlightened voters...?

I don't know if this shows up on camera but I saw the mayor up close the other day. If you look real close you can see pieces of corn and peanuts on the surface of his head.

I'm not saying that the federal and state governments weren't the slowest, but the picture of all of those buses, drowned in water, that could have been used to evacuate people, just sitting there, tells me that the good Mayor didn't have it together - intentionally, or innocently.

But, he should have, and he didn't.  Nuff said.

At least Mayor Nagin had an idea that the levees might break.  The President had no idea.

80% of the city evacuated.  Federal emergency was requested and an evacuation issued 2 days before the storm.  2 days AFTER the storm the Federal government was still clueless.

You are right, Mayor Nagin may have not done a perfect job, but at least he was noticably smarter and more prepared than the federal government and the Bush administration.

You guys are just pissed off that while Nagin was working, Bush was doing press conferences about stuff he admittedly had no idea about.

Thats funny thats all you guys talk about.  Theres a picture of the buses if you scroll up a little bit, Jonny.

Yes, even though those buses were sitting there, Nagin still did a markedly better job at having a clue than anyone in the federal government.
Thats SAD, huh?

The national guard didnt even get there for 5 days.  Walmart sent trucks in the the next day and the day after, but the federal government was still planning a committee to decide if they should do something.
Why did it take Walmart 1 day to get shit happening, but it took the Feds over 5 days?

So while you poo-poo Nagin for not using force to get drug dealers and poor people out of the area, at least it took him less than 4 days to realize there was a disaster.
I'd take Nagin over Bush any day of the week.

Is there any other information you have about it except for a picture of buses?

Sunday Aug. 28th 2005 At 9:30 AM CDT (1430 UTC), President Bush called Governor Blanco, and said that he was, "very concerned about the storm’s impact," and urged Blanco and Nagin to order a mandatory evacuation.

So the answer is no, you have no other information or knowledge about anything except for the flooded buses?
You dont have to beat around the bush trying to hide it, you can just admit it.

Blanco requested a state of emergency on Aug 26.  That was Bush's response.....2 days later......that it might be a good idea to evacuate.
