At Milcon, between Lori Choyce's presentation and Svenn's presentation, we were entertained by ASB's daughter Teresa and the Badger Band. Everyone enjoyed it - some more than others...LOL Chicken Dance Anyone? http://www.ouch-us.org/gatherings/milcon06/chickendance1.wmv

It is up to YOU to educate yourself and then help your doctor plan your treatment. If you just sit down in front of your doctor and say "make me better" you are setting yourself up for a great deal of pain.

Of course it wasn't all fun and games. There was a serious side as well. Those who wished to do so participated in the Zomig NS study right there at the convention. IMPORTANT: Anyone who participated in the Zomig NS Trial at the convention and did not get their journals turned in, please send those to Lori Choyce ASAP. Lori Choyce (NECH) announced a new clinical trial coming out around the end of the year, studying Civimide as a preventative.: http://www.ouch-us.org/gatherings/milcon06/choyce-winstoncivimide.wmv Supporters are probably the most important people in ours lives. Yes we see the doctors once in a while and get this or that med, but our supporters keep us going. They advocate for us with our doctors, console us when we are feeling down and kick us in the ass when we start letting things get to us. At the beginning of Svenn's presentation, he had us do something we should be doing every day. http://www.ouch-us.org/gatherings/milcon06/applaudesupporters.wmv He also challenged us to come up with ways to increase awareness of ch - see CH Contest Thread. Dr. Sewell drove home the point that we must actively advocate for ourselves in order with this little exercise: http://www.ouch-us.org/gatherings/milcon06/sewell-prevalenceofch.wmv He showed us that one or two people CAN make a difference: http://www.ouch-us.org/gatherings/milcon06/sewell-videohelps.wmv Dr. Sewell kind of stepped in it a little bit when talking about the age of CH onset: http://www.ouch-us.org/gatherings/milcon06/sewell-stepsinit.wmv Dr. Sewell praised the creation of C.H.A.T.S. He stated there was no way he could have gotten a grant to have the software written, but because of the activism by OUCH members, there was a useful tool for collecting data. It has already been approved for use by the Harvard IRB and should be put into use shortly. Dr. Sewell made the following statement: http://www.ouch-us.org/gatherings/milcon06/sewell-svenn&dan.wmv Way to go guys! Finally, Dr. Sewell announced that because of pilot data provided by Clusterbusters and members of the cluster headache community, he would be submitting grant paperwork for a Kudzu trial this October.

continued... Dr Halpern spoke mainly of the issues involved in getting the psilocybin study going. He also spoke to some of the legal issues, such as seeds: http://www.ouch-us.org/gatherings/milcon06/halpern-seedsillegal.wmv Dr. Halpern explains that this type of research could be dangerous to a research career. http://www.ouch-us.org/gatherings/milcon06/halpern-waryoflsd.wmv Glad you all are enjoying a short peek into a convention. For those who have never attended, you really have to go to Richmond next year. There's more from this convention, but I'm tired and it's almost time for my nightly visit from you know who. I can feel him creeping about already. Will try to finish up tomorrow.

Thank you, Mike. Great videos. Please note, on your second video of the badger band, the tuba player was facing Dr. Sewell, and telling him to take his necktie off. Dr. Sewell said thanks, but no. And, you do realize that those of us, who shall remain nameless, who were shown doing the chicken dance, will do very nasty things (castration comes to mind) for showing us them doing something so stupid. Saturday, after the last of the presentations, there was our banquet, awards ceremony, entertainment and auction. The first award: The Bob Kipple Award for Service to the Cluster Headache Community: Dialuppers, I apologize for the size of this (2.45MB). I cut out a lot of applause and extra stuff to get down this far. http://www.ouch-us.org/gatherings/milcon06/kipaward.wmv

Some of these clips would make great fodder for AFV. Who knows...if it won, the money goes straight to OUCH! Wouldn't that just be the cat's pajamas? I loved the one where Blake said he was tired of Blue....I'm still laughing. Miss you guys.... Pegg
