Hi there Friends and Family This developement that are here in Clusterville "flaming, nonsens, crap etcetc"scares me a lot Clusterville and this site has been a lifeline ,are a lifeline and will be a lifeline for many of us in the future. What really scares me with this is that DJ might close this down "even for a few days "as he for sure is getting pissed about what is going on here. And in a way i have to admit that i do understand him Many of us are here on daily bases to seek comfort when they are feeling down and in pain.Me included. Please dont let this happend We ALL have to do anything to prevent that Svenn

Hey Svenn- DJ has shut down the site from time to time but it is rare. The best thing to do is not respond to dumbass posts. Let it hang there with a big fat '0" for replies. If a known troll happens to make a sensable post I have no problem responding to it with a sensable reply. Kind of a carrot and stick approach. As for nasty PM's, the delete key works pretty good on my puter. I have only received a few harsh PM's and it was because what I wrote was taken the wrong way and after explaining to the person politely, all was set proper. Again, a big fat "0" in the replies is the best solution. A reply of "I'm not going to reply" is still a reply. Even if the post is a direct attack one someone, don't take the bait. If it is foul enough, DJ will probably delete it. Just my $0.02 worth. -P.

Svenn, we have talked about it just the other day…. tks for putting it on the boards….. It saddens me... and angers me that this venue of communication… and yes a LIFE LINE is being abused, for what ever reasons…. Like I said on another post “DO NOT SPIT INTO A WELL YOU DRINK OUT OF” and more so where others drink out of as well….. to the newer newbie’s than I am…. take your time and read and gain experience and knowledge…. you DO NOT have all the answers…… get to know us……. and please try to understand that the accumulated knowledge on this board is more than you can even dream off….. so try not to come up with statements…. which most likely are just wishful thoughts, and less facts, post questions there will be always someone to try and answer….. and most of them know what they talk about….. This is the way I chose when I came on…… I don’t know if I got the respect of the “old guard” but I was never ridiculed or questioned! as far as I know………. Michael

There are always those that have to, for some twisted reason, spoil a good thing. This place has been a life saver for me, and even when I am so busy I cannot always post, or even sign in under my nick, (because of work) I do stop to read as much as possible. I no longer respond to trolls. As soon as I read something I perceive to be inflamitory, I bail out of the post. I try not to let my anger goad me into responding to the post. DJ has shown himself to be a wise man, (and caring too) and I personally feel that he will not tear down his site because of a few loud mouths that try to make everyone miserable. This is just my thoughts on this. Dragn

I agree and have seen the ugly and have been cyberslammed by at least one individual, not sure why some people feel that it is necessary to flame and I have seen this same individual do it to others so it must be a personality flaw and when I see his posts I just ignore them and press on. It would be a shame to loose such a life line as this site has become because a few people are bent on making others as miserable as they are. We just need to leave these people to wallow in there own misery and leave the responses at the big fat 0 and if it is in the middle of a post just ignore them and don’t give them the satisfaction of responding to there post. Svenn and all, this weekend was the first time I ever went after someone on the board. I had received pm's from him telling me this place is his playground and about the lies he tells. This place is my lifeline. People are here to support me and me to support them. I get defensive when people abuse this site. I acted out of anger and regretted it after I did it and have asked Dj to remove the thread. I try to act responsibly and treat everyone here with respect. jim

Trolls will come and Trolls will go. I am sorry the Troll was toying with you this weekend, Jim, and I believe Svenn was referring to EVERYONE taking a jab at what is eventually unearthed as a Troll. The very best thing I have seen lately is the paragraph explaining to those who are new, that this person is a troll and should not be encouraged. Ignore those who revel in making Clusterville a mockery. This is NOT their playground! Svenn, the peace loving Madd Viking, thank you for reminding us all that we are here for brother-sisterhood, cameraderie, and the understanding of just what it is to be a Clusterhead. Although I am not a CH er, I care about soo many here, and hate it when when there is discord. Wishing Clusterville a wonderful, PF day.... and no Trolls!!!!!!!!! (the bad trolls, Svenn........) I agree Svenn. The "flaming" is a waste of MB space. Ignoring it is the best policy (notify DJ if you think something is out of line and let him handle it - he's been doing it for years). When I found this board back in 98, I was welcomed with open arms and have been at home here since. Today when a newbie comes on everyone is suspicious and instead of giving comfort, we tend to question them. This is NOT support and not good. And, yes, over the years we've had some "annoying" posters, but these were taken with a grain of salt and DJ took care of it (as his old posts will verify). We all react differently to situations, but "flaming" someone because we disagree with them is nonsense. Right now we're acting like an "exclusive" club and only those who meet "our" criteria are allowed. Sure there are going to be those who give bad advice (I've probably given some screwy advice myself over the years), but a note that is doesn't work very often should be sufficient. Running off sufferers is ridiculous. As you said, this board is a "lifeline" to a lot of us and if someone needs it, who are we to tell them they don't have CH (remember when each of us were diagnosed and how scared we were?). Of course there will be "trolls", but don't suspect everyone and look for "hidden" things in their posts. It's possible that they're just enthused because they found something that works for them and wants to share it. Anyhow that's my opinion on the subject. Hugs BD

I am new here and this is my first post. Maybe Dj is considering shutting down the board not only because of the troll issue but also beccause of the, in my opinion, great amount of racist, derogatory posts about Arabs and Muslims. I think that it is a shame that such posts are made. Also the so called "joke" about the death of 2 million Mexicans is not funny at all. If you really feel such things about groups of people, maybe it is better to tell such things to your friends and not post them. I do not think that many Muslims or Mexicans with cluster headaches will join this otherwise fine site and such terrible racist posts shames us all. Thank you.

I posted this in response to a similar post on the Alumni Board before I saw Svenn's post here. I don't expect everyone, or anyone for that matter, to agree with me. It's just my opinion. Quote:I'm not "Old Guard," but I'm definitely not a newbie and I have to say that I agree with Svenn and Barb. This place seems to be being slowly being eaten alive with what I dislike most about a lot of message board communities. There is a feeling, a vicious edge everywhere on the board anymore that bothers me. It's like we are waiting with spring steel jaws agape, ready to snap shut on some unsuspecting newbie who utters the C word (cure) or is just a little too enthusiatic about finding something that they think might be working for them. Yes, we need to be on the lookout for snake oil salesmen and for those who would intentionally pass out bad info, but not everyone who posts the word Cure or is happy because they think what ever they just tried has made them pain free has evil intentions. We need to educate - not berate, castrate and mutilate - those people. We also need to listen to and evaluate what they have to say with an open mind before discounting them. A lot of medical breakthroughs were totally by accident and not all came from medical research. Does this mean I'm going to run out and try everything that some Tom, Dick or Mary posts? No. I am going to do some research and hopefully some of the people who are more adept at researching this stuff will bring their information to the discussion. It's not just the "Troll behind every tree" stuff, either. I can't explain it, but the whole board seems like a ticking time bomb. Differences of opinion lead to a smack down rather than a discussion. There are racial undertones and outright racist posts that go beyond America protecting her borders. God forbid anyone say they are on or want information on disability. To me, it's just becoming a more and more hostile environment and I find myself spending more time looking in from the sidelines and just posting here and there where I feel I need to. (Like now) Just my two cents. Take it for what it is worth or leave it be. |

It might help if people wouldn't use the "he/she who yells loudest and most often has the best point" style of "discussion". Also keep in mind that the last person to post in a thread, isn't always the winner of the arguement....more often than not, it's the last gasp of a loser. Bill

As a newbie here I would like to say something. I found this site when I was at a very low point. I immediatly felt like I was among friends and family. When you are feeling so bad and people you don't even know are so understanding and caring it is an amazing feeling. The encouragement and information from this site have made a huge difference for me and I am sure for many others. For the life of me I can't understand why someone would want to make a mockery of such a helpful and friendy place. Can't a few of the insulting Trolls just be banned? This seems to be a place for CH sufferers and supporters, not for people who only suffer from infantile genital syndrome. PF Days and nights to all Big Guy

But whilst a poster of a controversial political or racist or religious topic almost invites flaming, I find it totally inacceptable that a reply to a Ch related post of doubtful content is countered by "who kicked your rock over??" and "turns his rock back on him". And another ignorama writes "look at the moon and lighten up". I say, if they are not competent of a rational discussion, fuck these biches sideways. ASG
