I found this after I put "stadol Nasel Spray in a search engine. Stadol is VERY strong and QUITE expensive. I saw it listed at NWW for like $275 for the 3oz spray. It is alot stronger than hydro by comparison. I took 2 sprays once not knowing just HOW strong it was... I thought I was gonna die. I passed out with my head on my desk and laid there for about an hour or so. Be careful with Stadol. It is not to be taken lighly! As with anything else on the internet, some things are true, some things aren't. Personally.....I'd be very very careful and that's all I'm going to say about this subject. Well, except you might want to check out a thread on the med board about the use of pain meds. There is a mention of Stadol there as well. Linda

Although there are others, I'm pretty certain, I only know of one on this board using Stadol NS. I very much doubt he will be around till Mon, but I will leave him a p.m., so he can share his experiences. Is there a reason for the NS as opposed to an injection? Just thinkin' out loud........... It's very addictive... be careful...and may not help your pain, you may get a rebound headache from it. I may also knock you on your tush so be careful the first time yo use it. I have only used it as a last resort just before the ER. It can be safe, just be aware of what you are getting into with narcotics. -lionsound

Dose of reality. Good Job. I am one of us that does get some relief from Stadol. I so far have been fortunate I really fear abusing it but for me the fear of not having it when I need it helps keep me in line at least so far. Good Vibes and lots of Cluster luv! mynm156 |

I tried it for awhile and I thought it was useless & it left a nasty taste in my mouth. During a few bad headaches, I found myself using 3 and 4 inhalations and still not getting much relief at all. I had to get rid of it. I do use Stadol injections. But who in their right mind is going to abuse that ??!! The needles I must use are HUGE and hurt like heck !! The injections do help with mild to moderate pain ... but if it's a true cluster 'attack', it's useless too !! If someone were to ask me if I recommended Stadol or not, the answer would be "No". Goodluck UNsolved PS. Studies have shown that the injections are far less likely to be abused than the nasal spray. But, at the same time, it's far less likely that a doctor will prescribe you the injections. Edited cause sometimes my fingers move faster than my brain does

I understand about not abusing it, cause when it was first prescribed to me, I would find myself using it when I "really did not need it". Then I found myself hurting like hell when the attacks hit. So I was screwed when the time came to use it. Now I keep it with me Just for emergencies.

More info on stadol NS from rxlist.com: http://rxlist.com/cgi/generic2/butor.htm Note the side effects and warnings. I tried it once, many years ago. Instant, severe vertigo, so bad I could not sit or stand, wound up on the bathroom floor vomiting. TMI? That one CH attack went on for what seemed like eternity! My insurance co-pay was about $90 Canadian if I recall. Hope it works for you if you go that route. Doug

It affects your breathing rate, and don't use more than prescribed. I used it for quite awhile, it worked on my migraines, but did nothing for my CH. Also, it made me feel like I was on pred. I'd get very irritated at the slightest things. I finally stopped it. For some people it becomes habit forming. I never had a problem that way. I also didn't like the way it made me feel. Only used the shots in the ER.

I used stadol ns in the past and I agree with everything that has been said so far. It would nock me out so I would sleep and then the pain was gone. It is very addicting and easy to build up a dependance on.. But it does stop the ch with a price.

Be careful with it. It can hook you bad, I've been there. It does work for me, and I still use it from time to time. I have been using the generic version - Butorphanol to save $$$. I dilute mine with distilled water to lighten the stoner effect. It's much easier to judge what is just enough to give relief without wiping you out. One nostril, one spray. Don't drive or make any big decisions. I makes me sleep in short bursts, I can lay there and my mind is racing. Does not give a restful sleep. Caution - mix it with Ambien and you become a figgen zombie, doing weird shit, wandering around and remembering absolutely nothing.

I used it for awhile. and the injections at a local clinic as well.. It always left me itching like crazy, especially in the nose(nasal spay or injection). Then some stupid intern IV'd me 4mg of the stuff (that was the same dose that they would hit me in the ass with) and found out why it made me itch... I am damn allergic to the stuff. A full 4 mg IV made me start coughing uncontrollably for about three mins and then knocked me out cold for 8 hours. Can you just see my wife watching this... here I am concious and in pain... IV the 4mg of stadol.... uncotrolled coughing like gagging cough, and then I pass out!!!!! She said it looked liked I just killed over and died. The intern replied hmm ooops I think we gave him too much. My wife about killed him. --Ken
