The past two weeks have become a living hell for me with respect to the migraine and CH. I guess I spoke too soon when overjoyed about how well the methotrexate was helping me. I had 2 of the best headache weeks in over 5 years and then 2 weeks ago, slammed. It's been a nightmare ever since...
So I saw the neuro NP this morning at the headache center. She gave me 3 nerve block injections...2 above the right eye and one in the right temple...ow... I'm wondering if they weren't more superficial and didn't hit the nerve because I felt this "numby" feeling for a few hours... I came home and took a nap and after waking up, my head is back to horrendous again.... This is just not good.
I'm supposed to go back in a month, but I may call again tomorrow and just let them know that I didn't get relief...I can't go another whole month like this... It's becoming a major problem. 
Sorry to whine....this just sucks...

Awww...can I come visit on Sunday? or better yet, Saturday night into Sunday? LOL
I forgot to mention that out of the last 5 IVs that I've tried in neonates, I've nailed 4 on the first try. I've made it my goal this month to get good at IVs....working on it. At least that's a positive although I feel strangely on the edge of needing more acute intervention to this headache...

I had a series of shots like that, too. It didn't do much either. I have tried them all, oxygen probably the best, next to surgery, in my case. Hope you find the relief your needing!!! Be strong!!!

Sorry to hear the block didn't help much Carrie. What kind of block was it ? Have you had an ON block yet ?
IMO ... These kinds of blocks are kind of like real estate : ---> 'location, location, location' ... can mean all the difference.

Thanks everybody. It's worse yet again today and I've spent the whole day either sleeping, lying in bed, or battling the beast. I called out of community theater for tonight, where I am supposed to be accompanying. I called the headache center and left a message around 1someting and then called again at 4:10 to leave another message since I knew they were closing at 4:30. 4:30 came and went with no returned calls. What to do?? I feel so awful right now...

Sorry 'again'........was hopein ya'd get sum help....what's up with those clinic places anyhow......the more I hear about them the more PARANOID I get my doc will sumday say SEE-YA and pass me onto one......hopein that NEVER EVER happens and been very lucky so far to have a GOOD internalist (even tho two others quit and took hospital jobs) cuz he is better with apt's and call backs. Can get in within a week for a visit. Got a friend goin to a clinic for RA.....they put her on meds that make her sick.....bloated so bad she can't breathe or move......and no pain relief. But....she can only go in every three months and NOT a day early no matter what is wrong. I have heard alot of clinics are that way.....if they are takeing in special pain or health issue patients I'd think they'd be lots better with that ??? OK....hire more docs maybe so they can meet the patient load at least ? She was doin better in pain management by a long shot and movein around and active but now she is in pain and miserable and workin too many hours. She has called them to tell the nurses she can NOT tolerate the meds and can't afford to loose work bein sick from them either and she told them she still has alot of joint pain but they really DON'T want top hear it and get sort of pissy about it ! It really upsets me Pam

Update from today was that I did go to work even though I thought I was going to have to stay home. I left another message for the nurse practitioner, but as nobody had called me back by 4pm, I walked over to the clinic to try to talk to someone. It took me starting to cry before the one receptionist went and got a nurse...I felt dumb for crying, but the receptionist said, "You can't work like that..."
The nurse and I sat and talked about the meds I've tried and how bad the headaches are right now. She prescribed zyprexa, which E2 swears by and I've taken a lot of times, but not for quite a long time. I can take anywhere from 2.5 to 10mg...depending on what's going on I guess. I have an appt with my neuro on Wednesday morning now. Basically the next and only option after this is another hospital stay. I haven't had one for 1 year and 7 months.
I'm not sure what to do. Ultimately it's my choice since admitting for headache is actually voluntary...I won't die if I'm not admitted, but what do I do about how bad the migraine and clusters have gotten lately? I'm not sure how much longer I can go on with how bad it's been. I don't think that short term disability will cover me since it's a preexisting condition, and I only have 25 hours of sick time. I can't even really use vacation time since I do have some, but also am using 48 hours for my England trip in September, and I already bought the plane ticket - which is nonrefundable.
I know how bad this is... I'm hoping the zyprexa helps, but I'm so stressed now with choices like this in front of me. I dont' think I would lose my job if I take a leave of absence, but that does take a huge chunk of money out...and I don't really have any savings yet except what I'm taking to England.
Thanks for "listening" to me vent...

I am so sorry Lizzie. I too suffer the combo of CH and very complicated migraines. I have been to ER more times than I can count by ambulance never mind the walk ins. I too have been hospitalized. Don't be ashamed. Migraines are not benign especially the kind that land you in hospitals. At least that is what my neuro told me and he was right cause I suffered a TIA four years ago from one of those horrible episodes. When I am in they give me DHE and solumedrol. Have you ever tried that route? Now if I am starting to get into trouble my neuro let's me administer the DHE subcutaneously myself under his instructions.
I don't know if the CH sets off the migraines or the migraines sets off the CH. I don't know whether to shit or go blind at times. I FEEL you GF. Check your PM
