not sure how to feel.

I have a very weird question for people.  Does anyone feel guilty or something like that when they find something that works for them and knowing that others are unable to find anything that works for them or is suffering much worst then you are.  I am not sure if guilty is the word I am looking for or not, and I am not sure exactly how I am feeling about it or how to explain it.  I know we all want to feel as good as we can, but when you read some of the posts from people and you see how much they are suffering.  You can’t help but feel so bad for them in a very caring and concerned way.

Never feel guilty about what works for you.  When the opportunity arises to help others do what you can.

I think it's safe to say ALL CH'ers wish releif upon others.  If they don't, they probably don't have CH.

Ditto to what Paul says.

We are thrilled when someone else finds something that works for them. Don't even think about feeling guilty.

I had ch for 28 years and have now been pain free since 1986..and I don't hesitate to tell others about it. Why?  Because it gives them hope.  There are other people here who have also gone to pain free.  It can and does happen.

You sound like a caring person.  Happy to have you join our family.

Most of the time, the episodics (I'm one) leave when they're out of cycle.  I did the same thing for six years--can't remember if I posted the other times, (cycles are three years apart now) but I may have.  Not much, though.  Decided to stick around this time after it ran its course to see if I could be of some assistance.

As far as guilt goes, I understand completely.  There are others on the boards that suffer FAR worse than I do.  I'm extremely lucky, and I know it.  My little cycles, regular as a clock, are only a hint of what a chronic deals with.

Never feel guilty for finding something that works--your successes are an inspiration to others.  Your support of others will be much appreciated.

Best wishes,

George

Very well said everyone.  It does make me feel better to hear that from you all, and I am very thankful that I am feeling much more relief from the treatment, but also feel for others.  I can’t even imagine how a chronic CH sufferer must be or feel.

Thanks again.

Compassion....empathy....and love.

This is a close family.   Amazing how so much pain can bring this many people together, from all over the World.

I would not feel guilty if I had relief.  That is what we wish for for others, that they make it through, have some relief.  It is good to want the same for yourself.

We are all happy when someone has some pf time.

Nothing cheers everyone here up like hearing of someone find what works for them or someone going pain free. It gives us all increased hope that our turn is coming  Wink
There is nothing better you can post here, even winning lottery numbers come a close second to that!

It is up to YOU to educate yourself and then help your doctor plan your treatment. If you just sit down in front of your doctor and say "make me better" you are setting yourself up for a great deal of pain.

Not guilty.

I just wish others had the same luck as I of being pain free for 15 years and that they will continue to try the technique that I used to knock them down a bit:

      Dr. Wright’s Circulatory Technique:

I am not sure what mechanism is triggered by this but whatever it is, at least indirectly helps kill the pain. I do know that this technique has nothing to do with meditation, relaxation, or psychic ability. It is entirely physical and takes some work. It involves concentrating on trying to redirect a little circulation to the arms, hands, or legs. It can described as a conscious circulatory flexing. Increased circulation will result in a reddening and warming of the hands. Try to think of it as filling your hands with redirected blood. The important and difficult part is that it has to be done without interruption through the pain. Do not give up in frustration. It may not work on the first try. Every now and then it will work almost immediately. I lived for those moments. Try experimenting between attacks. You will find that it gets easier with practice.

I was given less than five minutes instruction in the use of method. The doctor, while placing his arm on his desk, showed me that he could slightly increase his arm and hand circulation. After several attempts, I was able to repeat this procedure and use it successfully. I have had about a 75% success rate shortening these attacks. My 20 minute attacks were often reduced to 10 minutes or less. Once proven that I had a chance to effectively deal with this horror, I always gave it a try as I had nothing to lose but pain.

Perhaps it will help if you think of it as trying to fill the arm as if it is were an empty vessel. I used to try to imagine I was pushing blood away from my head into my arm. Use your imagination. There is one man who wrote that his standing barefoot on a concrete floor shortened his attacks. This may be similar as it draws some circulation away from the head. Cold water, exercise, or anything affecting circulation, seems to be worth a try. My suggestion is to not let up immediately when the pain goes. Waiting a minute is probably a good idea. So long as you do not slack off, this has a chance of working.

This technique is very useful while waiting for medication to take effect or when none is available. It costs nothing, is non-invasive, and can be used just about anywhere. It is not a miracle but it helped me deal with this horror. It can be a bit exhausting but the success rate was good enough for me and a cluster headache sufferer will do just about anything to end the pain. It gives us a fighting chance.

Stick around though. This is a good place to be when you are fighting the beast.

It's survivor guilt.  You, as well as I, feel that we are only clusterheads when we hurt, and feel bad for those whom still hurt and will continue to hurt.  All we  can and should do is be here for our brothers and sisters!  Enjoy your painfree days and wish good things for everyone on this board.  We all want to be painfree, some are more passionate,  others are not.  That's why we are here,  and don't feel guilty, even for a second!!!
