First off....I'm a computer IDIOT!!!

Last night my mouse froze...wouldn't move.  I cut the power...waited a few minutes then tried to turn it back on.  Nothing but a black screen....
I have no idea where to start....Oh, it's a Toshiba Satellite laptop.  Ideas???

Thanks,
Jackie

nope...mouse was fine.

He said it had a power serge.  He had me remove the battery...hold the power button down for several seconds....that drained all the power....  Put the battery back in...hit the power button and it fired right up....

Pull the battery again and unplug the power to make sure all power is off, wait a minute then plug it back in and see if it powers up.

You said the screen is just black, does that mean when you turn it on nothing ever shows on the screen? Do lights flash? Do you have a power light?

Sorry for all the questions but I am an IT guy, so I think I can help, at least I hope I can and the system isn’t dead.

Matt,
The tech guy had me do just what you said.  When we put the battery back in it fired up just fine....did OK when we ran it off of power too.  There were no flashing lights....the screen was completely black...

Seems to be OK now..

Thanks
