Hubby still out of work (5 months and counting).

But I have been able to get the house refinanced. 7.5% 30 yr fixed. Under just my name.  It is thru our credit union.  They are going to pay off both the cars so that will save me $600 a month.  Plus getting the House ins and prop tax into the morg as well.  (When we refied 2 yrs ago, we where told it was in there and it was not so I have been paying fo rthat out of pocket for 2 yrs.  Anyone who knows about propr tax in Nevada knows how high those have gone up.)

So this will save me about $600 a month plus a mon if $3000 a year between the prop tax and the ins that  wont have to pay out.

That is a HUGE weight off my shoulders.

Thanks guys for the support when I felt like I was going to completly break down in depression.

I held out and it is working out.

Now just to get Shaun back to some kind of work.  He is feeling depressed because he has not been called back after any interviews and that I am getting this under my name, he feels like he is even more not needed.  Not sure how to help him.  Undecided

Las Vegas is a tough place to find work. It took me about 4 months before I had to take what I could get. And I don't suggest operating a tow truck this time of year! My sis worked for some mortgage places and had made some good money but her husband who was in the tech field (we both worked for Applied Materials) had a bitch of a time. LV is a service town and unless you sling cards, drinks or porn your options are VERY limited. Suggest the medical field, if open up the LV Sun you'll probably see 2 pages of want ads just for those types of people.
Wishing you the best!

Was going to see if he could get a job at a pharmacy. Just as one of the people that input the stuff when you drop them off and get the people to pay when they pick them up.  I had heard that you dont need exp for that, and it would be job security. There are a millin pharmacys around here.

Las vegas has had so many new people move there and then leave after a year or two and it makes alot of companies weary about hiring

Something that has helped me in the past is to drive around and look for companies that I would want to work for then look them up on the web and check out there employment section, a lot of companies don’t put jobs in the paper and only post on there web site.

Has he tried Craigslist.com also a great place.

I have also tried cold calls, found a company I wanted to work for called and asked for HR and asked if I could bring by a resume and I did get a job that way once.

I know it is tough for him, I am in the tech field in the Silicon Valley and got laid off and it took me four and a half months to get a job. I knew others that where out for over a year, I guess it’s has a lot to do with how hard you try. I was also very depressed when I was out of work, guys tend to identify a lot of who they are by what they do so being out of work is very hard on most of us. Tell him to hang in there and just turn over every rock and check every job board like Monster.com and Dice.com and any others you can find.

I hope he finds work soon, good luck and I am glad to here you have had some good things happen as well.
