Sorry for stepping on your post. Can anyone help zwibbs identify that the flower in question is indeed a "tiger lily" or "Lilium lancifolium"? It looks like one to me albeit a little light on the number of spots.

Thanks Mel. I thought you were mad at me. If I did something to offend you---I'm sorry. I love flowers and in NY the Tigers have been out the past week. My garden is booming---Basil, Rosemary, parsley----but the Tomatoes have lagged. The weather has been weird.

It's been weird here too. The corn is stunted as well as those Lilies we're talking about. The stems are supposed to be at LEAST about 16" high, the ones you see, are less than a foot.

Shake the bug off, clip the flower and wash it, Day Lillies are yummy, all varities are edible as long as you don't use pesticides on them!! Hehehehehe!
I was tempted to stop in the middle of the Highway on the way to Clusterchucks. there were masive beds in the Medium of the road! I guess its a good thing Terri doesn't eat flowers or I might have ended up incarcerated!! Pappy

I hate them, anything with more than four legs is a definite anaethema to me..ewww. Barney came in with a handful of yellow and black caterpillars yesterday to show me and I about screamed the house down at him.. those things belong in the garden! Next time he wants to show me bugs he can call me to the back door (little bugger only did it to make me screech, he finds it hugely amusing so I can't disappoint now can I?!  )

OK...Technically, that is an Oriental Lily. I believe the name is Juliet. Daylillies come in big bushes of tall slender spikey leaves, and they dont hold up well when cut. Due to the color of this variety, it very much resembles a daylily, but, in fact, if you look, one flower per stem, shorter, thicker leaves, it is an Oriental lily....like the coveted Rubrum lillies(white with pink throats) or the highly prized Mont Blanc lily(pure white, bigger than your hand, commonly used in bridal bouquets....
