Anyone who remembers anything about World War II, or has studied anything
about World War II, will understand and remember that during that war the
Japanese developed a way to demoralize the American forces. The Japanese
psychological warfare experts developed a message they felt would work.
They gave their psychological warfare script to their famous broadcaster,
"Tokyo Rose," and every day she would broadcast their message packaged in
different ways, hoping it would have a negative impact on American GI's
morale.
What was that demoralizing message?
It had three main points:
1. Your President is lying to you.
2. This war is illegal.
3. You cannot win the war
Does this sound familiar??? Is it because of:
Tokyo Hillary,
Tokyo Harry,
Tokyo Teddy
Tokyo Nancy,
Tokyo Durbin,
Tokyo Kerry,
who have all learned from the former enemies of our country, and have
picked up the same message and are broadcasting it on:
Tokyo CNN,
Tokyo ABC,
Tokyo CBS,
Tokyo NBC?
The only difference is that they claim to support our troops...before
they demoralize them. Come to think of it...Tokyo Rose told the American Troops she was on their side, also!

I remember my first WestPac to the Gulf when we were escorting oil tankers through the straights of Hormuz. There was this guy every night broadcasting from Muscat. He would do this F'ed up whistle for a few minutes then he would lightly sing " your mothers a monkey she wants a banana" over and over....it was friggin hillarious. I would here guys on other ships start arguments with him and then all hell broke loose with rants and cultural insults......
Whenever we shot at speed boats we would yell on bull horns " Give us your bananas, moms hungry"

It's interesting. My hubby and I were just talking last night about the "media", and how they put their own spin on everything that is aired. If you watch the three major networks, ABC, CBS, NBC, and even CNN, you get pretty much the same spin. So we started channel surfing to the BBC, FOX news, even Al Jazerra (sp?), and it's amazing what is shown there. Lots of stuff that is not shown on our networks.
So, whether good reporting or bad, at least if I flip from one to the other, maybe I'm actually getting more of the full/real story.

In Vietnam we had Hanoi Hannah to cheer us up. She even knew the names of soldiers and the units they were with and would mention them.
We always listened to her broadcast because she played better rock ‘n roll than the American Armed Forces Radio disc jockeys.

Once again, patriotism is a refuge for scoundrels. There is somewhat of a difference between WWII and the occupation of Iraq: Japan attacked us, but Iraq did not. In WWII, the country was united against Japan and willing to fight with 100%, but in the case of Iraq, the Army General that asked for more boots on the ground to secure the country was fired.
And the President IS lying to you - just today, Novak revealed that Karl Rove confirmed the identity of Valerie Plame as a CIA agent, which he then leaked, damaging national security in the process. Bush said he would fire anyone involved in the leak, then he said that the matter was under investigation, then he said nothing - protecting the leaker and lying to the public.
It's not Hirohito - its Nixon all over again ... develop an enemies list and smear or destroy those on it. This is the same old tactic of question their patriotism, question their sanity used against Daniel Ellsberg after he leaked the Pentagon Papers. And since you are such a history buff, Jonny, you know that the Pentagon Papers were a study conducted on behalf of the US government, which clearly showed that we WERE being lied to, and we WERE NOT winning the war, in spite of dropping more explosives on Vietnam than was dropped by all sides in WWII.
Six to 14 years ago, conservatives belittled the idea of using our military for peacekeeping. Rush Limbaugh repeatedly pointed out that they were not trained for peacekeeping but to "kill people and break things" Then all of the sudden, they switched to the position that peacekeeping and pizza delivery is a good thing, and that we don't even need adequate force levels to do it. Meanwhile, Iraq spirals deeper into civil war.

Agreed. I think. It wasn't quite a coherent sentence, but I am guessing what you meant.
When Mark Twain coined the phrase that "patriotism is the refuge of scoundrels" he didn't mean that all patriotism was a bad thing. Merely that scalawags hide behind the flag and use it to manipulate people. Same with religion - televangelism a the refuge of con-men whose idea of salvation is taking your money, while other churches have made themselves a refuge for pedophiles. Tokyo Graham and Tokyo Kyl, as you call them, added a debate that never happened into the congressional records to make it look like it was discussed, when in reality it was just more lies and deceit.
Yes, things are added to the record at a later date on a regular basis, but they arent lies, completely made up and they are ALWAYS noted that it was added at a later date. Senators are not allowed to secretly add lies into the congressional record strictly for the purpose of trying to sway the Sureme Court.
Tokyo Lindsay Graham......that's got a nice ring to it.

Pizza delivery? Yes, that is how the conservatives described our mililtary peacekeeping missions in the former Yugoslavia and Haiti, and peacekeeping in general - they were very clear that we had a military to defeat other militaries, not to occupy territories and police their populations. But then a Republican was elected to the White House, and the thing they used to be against they are now for. Today it's "Hooray for using the U.S. Military as a peacekeeping force!!"
You got a problem with that? Take it up with Rush and his buddies. They are the ones that flip-flopped on this issue. They invented the 'pizza-delivery' description. Although the civil war has gotten so intense that delivering pizzas, or painting schools, or handing out teddy bears to little children is no longer possible in Iraq.

Seriously, the American public supported the invasion of Afghanistan. The Taliban government was in league with Al Qaeda, and wouldn't surrender them to the U.S. That is a good reason for invading them. It isn't about either being an extreme pacifist or supporting every fucked up war that the politicians give you.
The British government, our closest ally, even they acknowledged that Bush was a liar for the war. They said Bush wanted to take a U.S. military plane, disguise it in UN colors, and send it in low. Then when it would have been shot down by Saddam, we would have a reason to invade!! Where is your pride? Would you be insulted if you found that Bush wanted to dress our troops up as little old ladies and send them into Iraq, and then use their arrest as justification for war?
And what about the Powell Doctrine? That was supposed to prevent another Vietnam. Only the politicians decided we don't need to use overwhelming force, and we don't need clear objectives and an exit strategy.
Punks like Jonny scream and moan when the big ditch goes $9 billion over budget and one person gets killed. Nine billion dollars in CASH sent to Iraq is unnacounted for and thousands are dead and maimed. And the total cost there is going to be a bit more.
