The "teen buzz" was originally created as a "teen repellent" for British business owners to play on their sound systems to keep kids out of their shops.  It's an annoying sound so high that most teens can hear it, but those older than thirty cannot.

Now, teenagers have begun using it as a "silent ringtone" so they can text message each other in class, and their teachers can't hear it.

Try it out.

I downloaded it on the laptop out in the living room.  Couldn't hear a thing.  Hmm.  Maybe the sound wasn't high enough.  Still couldn't hear it.  Asked EJ (my wife) if she could hear it.  Nope.  Cranked up the volume all the way.  Still nothing.

Just that moment, the Changeling, aged fifteen, sauntered through on the way to her Lair.  She clapped her hands over her ears and yelled--"What's that?  Make it stop!"

Guess it really does make a sound.

Fun stuff.

Best,

George

Ah! The foreigners put on such airs
Wearing the tangerine suits
And their harlequin eyes.
The pain they inspire
Draws in harmonica melodies
And the feathers of birds
Which flame up at their touch.
It all comes to light in the sheer
Debonair.

I think if anyone used that as a ringtone around me, I'd have to lodge their damned cell in their skull.  Oy that's an annoyin' sound.
