Down....with a question.

I'm so incredibly down. I've prayed about it, etc., but nothing seems to work. Does anyone experience that if something happens (good or bad) you get depressed? I can have some things changed around in my life and it throws me for a loop. I have to move in August, I don't have a roommate, I have A LOT of stuff to move, etc. I'm just freaking out. I'm really down, and all I can do is take deep breaths and pray.

Really I feel that way all the time, and when things happen it does make it worse. It's normal to feel depressed sometimes. If it is affecting your life then seek help. I have found the best way sometimes is to help others. Now that I can't do that I feel worse. I hope you feel better soon. Paul

Kim, a lot of us don't do well with change. It is always stressful, and moving is one of the biggies. Personally, I think it has a lot to do with feeling a lack of control. Just taking little steps towards organizing your move and finding help can make a difference for you. Keep on with the deep breaths and praying, and try organizing your move down to the last detail. It might help. Good luck with it. Patti

Hang tough Little one. Wish I was able to help with more than just words but can't right now. Pray for the things that make you smile, Hope for the glee if only for a while. Keep strong the belief that keeps you going, If you move to an apartment a lawn you wont be mowing. Smile when this verse you read, Not to hard so your pant don't get pee'd. A hug from a friend could help you some, A smile from a stranger might make you run. Lift high your head when in water deep, Keep it low when the need is for sleep. Prop up you feet as you relax today, Wear good shoes when with sheep you play. Smile for us we will not run, I hope this ditty was at least a little fun. The images running now through your head, I hope dont make you wish the Goat where dead. If this so far hasn't made you smile, Think of Jonny in a tutu and midgets lined up for a mile. On that note I will now go hide, So show us that smile and make it wide! Mike aka the dead goat!

I don't want to get too philosophical here, but sometimes I can't help myself (don't ask me why, but I studied this shit in college). It has become clearer and clearer to me that we only truly find ourselves when we are focused on the well being of others. In essence, we lose ourselves when we help others, and it is only when we do that that we truly find ourselves. Go through your original note and count how many times you use "I," "me," or "my." Focusing on one's self leads to feelings of depression, and the only way out is to focus outside one's self. How can I be of assistance to you? What can I do to help you out? How can I make someone else's life a little more worth living? Do what needs to be done then look into their eyes for the appreciation. There you will find yourself and the happiness that's been eluding you. I really don't mean for this to sound harsh or critical in any way, I'm just offering up the way out of the depression hole I've found myself in in the past. Bill

I fully understand the depression thing. My wife is on medication for it and I will be on meds soon as well. Interestingly enough my wife gets depressed when she doesn't have something new in her life to look forward to while I get more depressed when there is any change. Anyway, keep on praying and take brewcrew's advise. I have never felt depressed when doing something for someone else. Thta is why I love this place. You can get help when you need it and also get help when someone else needs it. I'll be praying for you as well. Eric

Life is hell but theres nothing you can do but keep your chin up, fight like hell, and go down swingin if you have to. I understand your position. I am depressed often. But most of the time I am able to control/let it out through my poetry. Yeah it sounds chessey but it really works. For example, this one's called I Live in a Dream: I live in a dream, yet a nightmare all the same. Hope and dreams next to hate and dispare. Its so crowded but nobody's there. Black is my color, But people think of as nothing. My mind is lost and I run from the pain. Nobody can know how I feel. Yet they know exactly what I mean. God, I'm so confused. The pain is always there. Now its gone. I live in a dream. Yet it a nightmare all the same. Oh,well. its just a little pain. Good luck. Always, Felicia

Yeah, life can be a bitch. Don't sweat the small stuff. Their are a lot of times in life that things can make you feel like shit. Life is just way to short as it is to waste some of it feeling like crap. Everything always seems to work out. Just look back over your life up to now. I guarantee that there have been times that you felt like this before. Here you are, plugging along. All will be well. Trust me. Steve

I have felt in the past that I suffered from depressions, but now I am in the full thing. I never knew what depression was, but now.... I understand. I broke down in my docotrs office when he asked me what I had to look forward to. I cant deal with the slightest upset right now. If I get to work 5 mins late because of traffic I feel like I am off all day and cant get the slightest thing done. I told te doctor that I felt like I was trying to hold 20 ballons underwater with only my head sticking out and I HAD to keep the suface of the water smooth. That the slightest thing would make it all fall apart and I dont think I could handle that. Plan everything that you can. Talk to your doc and see if he can give you something to help. I am on Lexapro (going to talk to the doc about weight gain from it) right now. I still have the problems but I am not going t break down for no reason. I feel like I can deal with things when they come up. Come here whenever you need to vent. I forgot that and well it was a good reminder to get myself back into the groove of things. /huggs kimmie Tia

I wish you felt better. Moving is counted as one of the big life stressors. I think it does have to do with a feeling of control of ones life. You are loved and you are not alone.

I've been there. Depression isn't the worst thing that can happen with this horror. You'll get around it. The only good thing about my anti-seizure meds is that it's an anti-depressant. The depressing thing is that it works only for that so far. Hang on kid. Charlie

Not to steal your thunder... I know you are asking for advice and I'm not taking it away from you, to divert attention to me but I know how you feel. Sometimes I do what my Mom called "borrowing trouble"... before something happens bad or good I have it all not working out so well in my head......NOT good.. and...... I know where you are because in about 6 weeks I am closing my business. I don't have a job yet and Im scared shitless.... I could lose my house... I have to work and I have to make a certain amount of money. This is the excersize I do when I am down..... I look in the mirror.... I say "I'm great, I'm great, I'm great" the first day I usually can't get past the first one..... the second day I maybe can bark out the whole thing..... by the third day I start to feel it..... I am great...What is the worse thing that will happen? I start to think positive. I am actually getting excited to end this job and start anew..... really what is the worse thing that could happen to you????? K.......? YOUUUUUUU AREEEEEEE GREATTTTTTTTTT! You are just overwhelmed.. Think of it as a new adventure... When one door closes another opens that might have a brighter coat of paint...... I'm cheering for you! Creator Bless.......love ree
